64Digits Winter Comp

Posted by Castypher on Dec. 4, 2011, 6:01 p.m.

As some of you may know, our host has stepped down. I know some people were really looking forward to it, especially after how great of a host Toast was (unintentional, I swear). I for one would like to see it continue as planned. We saw a great boost in productivity with S4D, and I highly agree with those who say we should hold more competitions.

So unless nobody steps up, I will host the competition. I'll do a more official blog when it's more…official, and nobody more suitable takes my place. And if you think you'd make a better host, by all means feel free. I just want to see the competition proceed. That being said, 64DCG will take a backseat role for now, but I've got all my questions answered anyway.

So as before, the competition is still scheduled to begin on December 7th, 2011, and will go to December 30th, 2011. That gives you roughly three weeks taking the holidays into account. Until then, you are allowed to plan your game so long as you hold physical production until after the competition starts.

Qwilderwibben has agreed to showcase the winner in an effort to increase publicity, and I'll look at throwing in some Steam-related prizes as well.

The theme will be winter, obviously. I don't like limiting people to Christmas, since 1) there's more than one religion on this site and 2) I find Christmas by itself to be fairly boring. So be creative. We had some great entries for S4D.

However, I do not want to see any Santa zombie shooters.

Unlike Toast, I might submit an entry for fun, but it will not be judged for obvious reasons. Voting will be worked out during the competition, but for now I want to see it start.

Like I said, I'll post a more official blog, but for now:
