Basically, I added a pretty simple effect in to the environments.
I'm placing images that appear to be closer to the player than does the the center field [where the protagonist and all the physical stuff is]. So, basically the rooms pop out toward you with stuff in the foreground. Not a big addition, right? Well, as it turns out, this has a wonderful effect on the look of the rooms. They aren't too noticeable in screen shots, but as you move within the room, you get a definite a sense of 3 dimensionality. The foreground imagery [the vines and trees and rocks on the side, as well as the gold light rays] is blurred slightly and differently lit, as you can see in these screens.I'm also adding more glowy shit.Because we all know I like glowy shit.a better example
I'm not completely sure what you're talking about. I think I somewhat do, but I'm not sure. Everything looks awesome so far.
EDIT:Nvm, I understand what it is now. The smallest things always have the biggest impact in games.I was hoping you'd have parallax in there. So long as it doesn't obstruct your view of important items, it's an excellent addition. Be sure to do the same with the background.
The video still doesn't do it justice, I need a better screen recorder lol
What are you using to record?
Long story short, get this.Looks nice. Finish the game already.
Looks amazing. Wish I had such artistic skillz… ;__;
Camstudio? That is unbelievable laggy. Even when I record something as small as 480*272 I have to lower the quality so it's impossible to tell what's happening.
Fraps. Works for me at least.
