Basically, I added a pretty simple effect in to the environments.
I'm placing images that appear to be closer to the player than does the the center field [where the protagonist and all the physical stuff is]. So, basically the rooms pop out toward you with stuff in the foreground. Not a big addition, right? Well, as it turns out, this has a wonderful effect on the look of the rooms. They aren't too noticeable in screen shots, but as you move within the room, you get a definite a sense of 3 dimensionality. The foreground imagery [the vines and trees and rocks on the side, as well as the gold light rays] is blurred slightly and differently lit, as you can see in these screens.I'm also adding more glowy shit.Because we all know I like glowy shit.a better example
I've had great luck with a recording program called BBFlashback.

Nice. Way better than that crap before. :P
I like it and I can't wait to play, broham.Thanks.
Damn, how do you avoid lagging with all of those effects?
This looks so good I would Buy it(and if I didn't have money, Pirate it.).@JuurianChi: Meh, Just have to make sure you don't do too many effects at once I guess, and I have a pretty shitty computer. I've done nearly all that pixel art with a laptop touch mouse.
Wow. Love the graphics. So detailed. I'm excited to play.
240p is not HD.
I love the light streak overlay in the screenshots. Makes it look really epic.
Lovely work - Just a few things that I would like to point out;
Work on the character death animations for the enemies (Make it obvious enough) because as it stands, it looks like they just disappear.Also, when it's translating the "Maibi" text, you might want to turn down the sound effect for it (It disrupts the otherwise very ambient feeling of the game).
