New Online Multiplayer

OK i need some serious help with making this. can anyone show me how to make an online game!? i've been trying to get it but it doesnt make sense. what website do i use as the host? do i use TCP/IP??

i dont know where to start.

some help me please. i promise an amazing multiplayer game when i get it working!! it will be lots of fun lol

Basically, web addresses can be used just like an IP address. use TCP/IP, and host it on your own IP address. You have to run the server (the game on the host computer) from an IP you control (ie, your computer), and the clients (other instances of the game which the players run) will connect to that IP. Wether you want a MMO or simple 2 player online, its the same concept.

yeah. Its gotta be a host that you have access to. A copy of the game has to run on the host computer. You could use your normal computer, another computer in the household, or a 'server', which is really just a computer designed to work really good with online stuff or somethin like that. But you can use any computer really, that can run the game.

Guys, don't you think he's already looked at tutorials and examples? Just telling him to "look at manuals" isn't going to help him.

kaz or shadowyoshi can help you, kaz is using soc and shadowyoshi is using GMmplay (right now, they can use both though), sleepinjohnnyfish knows mplay EXTREMELY well…
