Something many people neglect are user-defined constants. I find them particularly useful when defining ds_lists that will be used globally, and also for custom colors. Many people never use user-defined constants, or don't even realize that they exist!
You can define a constant with a number, string, or even a piece of code.name: list value: ds_list_create();yields a globally useful ds_list without all the annoying <b>global.</b> bit.You can also do colors:name: dk_blue value: make_color_rgb(0,0,128);<hr>I pixeled someone's face.<p align=center></p><hr>Finally, a game worth of such a score! Is this not beauty?<hr>I am planning on changing my avatar - same style as the current one, but a different fox. I have the same smooth walking animation as the one I used for Forrest.<p align=center></p>This is Jake, previously Dr. Jake Winters, a character in my upcoming game. He is a <b>former</b> scientist who studied genetics, until he had an accident, and is now himself being studied. After helping him out, he in turn helps you out.<p align=center></p>You <i>do</i> see him in-game sans-clothing, and also wearing. As you can see, he wears a dark blue shirt, dark blue jeans, and a brown belt, just as I do in real life.So help me decide between the two.<hr>After having his accident, he dropped his title and last name, and simply became Jake. Stronger, faster than you are, he can see in the dark, and never gets tired. You will also end up playing as a robot, your receptionist, and someone else…You know less thank you think…
You're welcome, anytime.
Here's my opinion:
The one wearing blue clothes is slightly better now, but I would change some things:The walking animation is decent, but you could make it look a little more real by adding some tail movement and make the head bob a litle. The clothes seem to plain, make them more interesting. Try adding something like pockets, maybe something in his belt, a symbol on his back or somewhere, or some kind of sash or something across his chest.Maybe add a low transparency shadow under him.If I made an animated avatar, I would go all out and add a frame between each 90 degrees angle he faces, to make the transitions when he turns more smooth. Also, I think it looks better when you use the same pallet for the shirt with the pants. They're too close to be seperate pallets, and the pants one looks a little…iunno, cliche maybe. And I we're to critique your pixel art, it looks like you pillow shaded on the fox, but not the clothes. The line art is pretty good, just start thinking about some advanced shading with lighsources and whatnot later on.And if you wanted to go 100% all out, if you think your good enough. I think it would look better with a well pixeled landscape backgound. There you go.-Puffssuper comment
