Dead Arm Syndrome

Posted by DesertFox on March 30, 2007, 11:21 a.m.

So I woke up in the middle of the night, and hooray I woke up with Dead Arm Syndrome - y'know, when you sleep on your arm and it goes dead and you can't move or feel it?

So its about 3 in the morning, I wake up, 'reach up' to brush my hair out of my eyes, and realize my arm didn't move. I then realize that I can't even feel my arm, and look over and I don't even see my arm as I was still lying on it. My first, immediate thought was 'Oh my god, someone's stolen my arm'. Then I woke up more and realized I'd just fallen asleep on it.

So I pick up my arm, and it feels really weird, like someone else's arm. I let go and it flops down really funny, so I pick it up and bite one of my fingers - no feeling at all. So I sit there for five minutes holding this arm to my chest when it finally regains feeling.

That's not the first time that's happened, but it was so weird. Such a creepy feeling, especially since I was really sleepy at the time, and I had less than nominal mental faculties functioning.

Anyways, I went to the movie at Ingle Auditorium yesterday, it was Borat. It was awesome - I went with my friend Ian, and another friend, Pilar (she's Peruvian). Good movie, with some really creepy parts - specifically the nude hotel fight. Bleurgh!

I don't think I really have anything else to say, except…

Ahhh, I keep waking up like that. It's so weird! I like to flap it around for a bit, it's quite fun. Try it sometime :P

@ TwistyWristy=This is NOT a one night 'syndrome'. This is a problem I have with my leg.

I wasn't making light of your injuries, I was referring to DesertFox's 'Dead Arm Syndrome'

Sorry.

Most people think that the 'pins and needles', the aftermath of 'dead arm syndrome' hurts. However, I love it. Not feeling a limb is very fun.

I had carpel tunnel syndrome once from programing and modeling in 3D.

@Jaxx

Your doctor must not be a very good one. My friend had a similar problem and they did surgery on his knee and now my friend is fine and well.

Given the time to concentrate, I can 'kill' all of my limbs. That's a weird feeling.
