So for my final project in my iPhone class, I am making a game.
Normally, I absolutely suck at graphics, but I found a way of doing stuff that makes it look uber-awesome.
It's more noticeable on the mines, but I have an awesome pseudo-3D effect going on. Also, the mines rotate. So does the ship, but it's kind of hard to see in this picture. The ship is gorgeous in motion. All of the graphics are mine, and HOLY SHIT THEY'RE VECTOR!
Anyways, it'll be a dual-stick shooter with aliens and stuff, and a unique ship upgrade tree. I really wish I could get away from asteroids clones, but I always end up making them because I like them. Also because I normally suck at graphics and anything else is past my capability to make look even remotely good. In other words, I wish I had a graphic artist.
So I've finished OpenGL ES encapsulation, and that is an actual screenshot of the game. And by that I mean it's a test of my capability to load multiple images and display some in an animation. And it works great!
You have to have a Mac to use the Developer stuff for iPhone, right? That might be a problem if I want to start learning.
Blackberry development it is then! lolI wish I had a fancy phone so I could develop stuff on it.
The most fancy feature my phone has is a keyboard… and those aren't as unusual in a phone as they used to be.*sigh*@Stevenup, the images are created as vector and then exported to PNG :D
Besides, what's hard about PNGs? If you use Open GL for the iPhone, I can give you a sample of my texture-handling class.@Cyrus - Steve Jobs thinks that the Java JRE is too bulky and heavy on the processor, so he won't put it on the iPhone. Anyways, Objective-C is just as easy as Java in most respects, and in many ways easier.@dabridge :P@Omega - yeah, I have to use lab computers :(Although it does look pretty cool, the only point is if you are making games that will be decently popular and good games because you need a licence to put it in the app store.
It would be cool if you could put it on the iphone without the appstore, but i think jailbreaking it can do that…Anywho looks nice. I want those graphics :( actually, it did give me an idea to use the circle w/ blend to make it look nice though. might work.I don't like Apple. I will never buy any of their products.
Alert - the game is for class, as in, I am getting graded on it. An App store license is only like $100USD, and some people just like making games.
And good for you, Josea. Good for you.I hate apple too, but I want to dev for the Ipod-touch which I received as a gift but I don't have a crap, I mean mac, sorry.
I will probably never own anything made by apple =o
