The last two months my brother and I have been working on a project for the fourth YYG competition. We're pretty happy with it, overall. Probably one of our best games yet (if not the best).
Anyways, the game is called ChimpVenture, and is based on a Chimp out to save the world. Since the competition theme is a "green"/save the world theme, you have to save it from the "evil" humans who are polluting like crazy. The game will contain 20 levels (in the current demo 10). Every five levels there is a new "area". (first five levels is in a forest, next five are underground, etc).Anyways, the chimp can move around and smack enemies with his weapon(s), such as a stick.Anyone interested in playing it is welcome to:Download!ChimpVenture HomeThis project was a joint creation! My brother, The Berryster, created all the graphics in the game, and I programmed everything, and together, we did everything else.Any ways, aside from working on that game I have redesigned my website a bunch (it looks waaaay better now), and put a blog up on it too. http://www.drazzke.comAnyways, other than that, I recently got my license for driving… (yay…)That's it, I guess. Thanks for reading.
Fun looking. Good luck!
From the screenshot that looks fantastic, I'm on dialup at the moment and unable to download though. :(((
Now there's something I haven't seen before. That's looking really nice.
Looking gooooood.
Thanks everyone.
Game is awesome, esspecially the trippy rabbits. And you guys are like the Berry brothers, which is just the best name evar. ^^
Graphics in .bmp = probably a bad idea.
Okay, first of all: Awesome! No music, apparently, but the graphics are pretty neat.
There are some bugs and problems… most notably, the chimp gets into a masturbating-esque state when standing on the circular-motion platforms. Also, beating the first boss kept getting me errors with each step. Not sure if it's not just my problem, though.Oh, and the boss jumping off the cliff and reappearing seems at least weird. The rabbits get stuck in a lot of tight spaces (are they really necessary? I mean, you can't get through most tight holes, so filling them shouldn't be hard ;))Moving from location to location is a bit confusing - after you beat the level, the next level should get auto-selected (maybe no exact transition, but getting to the menu with the location selected as default). All bananas reappear whenever you return to a level… seems a bit confusing in terms of collecting them all. Finally, there are several typos… and not exactly a bug, but some of the death messages are pretty, say, brutal, for a blood-less game…SandWich, thank you. And yeah, we're the Berry Bros :P
Cesque, Thank you for the great reply!First off, we'll probably change the files from .bmp to something else (perhaps .png?).Yes, the Chimp does start acting a little weird when on moving platforms. I'm going to try and have this fixed by the next version. The boss.. Yeah, it is a little weird. If we have time, we'll change it to something else. Currently though, it isn't top priority.Yes, the rabbits do get a bit stuck. I've been having trouble with them since I first programmed them. I'll try to fix their habits of getting stuck.OK, we'll consider this too. It shouldn't be too hard to do. (the moving from location to location thing). If we have time, I think we will make it so that the Bananas do not reappear if you already have gotten them. Again, not top priority, but if we find time, we'll fix this.Lastly, the typos will be fixed, and the death messages.. They are a bit brutal :P Perhaps we'll change them. Any suggestions? Thanks for the great reply and all the suggestions!Sweet.
