Halibutski's Movie Blog

As with bands, I have no one favorite movie, so I'll list them here in no particular order.

Blade Runner - An amazing dystopia, great acting, good plot, all rolled into one. This movie is a gem among sci-fi films.

Apocalypse Now - A very strange psychological trip. Includes great music. Probably the only war movie I like. I haven't seen it in a while, sadly.

Donnie Darko - I honestly am not sure why this movie holds such appeal with me, but it does. This film is definitely one of my favorites, it's cinematography is amazing, it's acting is amazing, the story is amazing (although not nearly as deep as people seem to think it is). The sequel to this movie comes out next year, I greatly look forward to it.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? - This is a really great movie, only depression-era movie I really care for. Of course, that's probably because the story is based on Homer's Odyssey, and takes place with southern rednecks. What could be better?

Office Space - Really funny. Enough said.

Tommy - The most amazing rock opera ever made. Features great music and great visuals.

Across the Universe - The only musical I like, has a lot of good covers of Beatles songs. It takes place in the 1960's, therefore it's awesome.

The Beatles Yellow Submarine - The second only musical I like. Good music and really strange locations, pretty funny too, in a dry way.

Edward Scissorhands - Tim Burton is the master. This is the visual equivalent of a symphony. This is a great story. Watch it and find out yourself.

Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - This dark comedy is about the end of the world. Watch it.

Pirates of the Caribbean (Trilogy) - Pirates.

Star Wars (Classic Trilogy) - The new ones fail. The Empire Strikes Back was the only really good one of the classics.

What's Up Tiger Lily? - Woody Allen's masterpiece of a comedically dubbed Japanese film. If more people online knew of this movie, there would be a massive surge in memes as a result of it.

I'm sure there are more, if I remember them, I shall update my blog or leave a comment.

Wondering which of those movies to watch now,

It's the same cast so far, if that's what you're thinking.

Bladerunner is excellent, as is Apocalypse Now. Good choices.

Nothing up there for me, really. Stuff of my choice would be:

-Sunshine

-A Clockwork Orange

-2001: A Space Odyssey

-The Matrix trilogy

-Rambo IV

-Minority Report

-The Boondock Saints

Dark City and Escape From New York are also pretty good.

This list has made me realize how few movies I've seen.

I thought Sunshine was terrible. But you still have to see it.

I saw Eternal Sunshine on a Spotless Mind a while back. I thought it was okay.
