And I'm going to install DSL (Damn Small Linux, only 50MB!) on my usb drive. bash is the shell winner!Anyway, I'm going to start a C++ project sooner or later, with Halibutski. If any of you are good with drawing sprites and such, give me a PM. The C++ project is a text adventure. Yeah, it's for Windows. I'll port it to Linux. As usual, I don't have a lot of content. OpenGL isn't better
http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article1775.aspWindows is actualy betterhttp://ramikayyali.com/archives/2005/07/25/winlinMost commercial games have a windows and linux release (or a version for both). But other games only have a windows release. I did use C++ (for a month)but I feel more pleasant using GM.My answer to your blog title: No. Not unless I have a crappy computer to spare.
I had linux a couple years back, and it was nothing incredible…After my hdd died, I didn't even miss it. I recently got Ubuntu linux, to so what I'd been missing out on these past several years of development, and…I haven't really missed out on a whole lot.
Like SJF said, I only use it when I have time to play around. It really isn't as much use to me most of the time, except for novelty purposes. And anyone who gets viruses is usually not worthy of having a computer in the first place. If you use a computer properly, and have some basic protection (knowing how to use the options on your internet browser, spybot, whatever else you want), and stay away from sites that will no-doubt give you viruses (why would you need to go to those sites anyway. [;)]) you'll be fine.I use Fedora Core 5 and I dual boot with Micro$hit Winblows XPiss.
lol
I don't know why you guys hate Linux so much. I mean, you can dual boot, use Cedega, etc. It's only so hard to press reboot >_>
