Aster Blaster Preview Screen

On the heels of Linked rides in Aster Blaster HS, a remake of a game I abandoned a while ago!

ABHS is a classic arcade shooter at heart (asteroids style), but will allow users to play through a large range of different scenarios (hopefully 30-40+), each with it's own high score and best time. An endurance mode will also be included, as well as different awards and medals for people who can complete special goals.

I am debating some kind of skirmish mode too, but we'll see, since I am not sure if I am up for coding that quite yet. Anyway, here's a screenshot:

It's coming along quite nicely, although it's already getting to be a bit large (3.65Mb zipped), but most of the animations are already added, so it shouldn't take up too much more space (no pun intended).

I'll keep you guys updated!

Actually, I have it setso that it generates random backgrounds on the fly, and can currently add random planets and nebulae. It also has multiple layers of stars, to give it a more 3D effect. If you haven't checked it out on the GMC, it will be on 64D soon, and you'll see that it's a little more visually impressive than the screen above demonstrates.

I'm working on twists i can add to the game that will make it unique fromt he original asteroids, but at it's core I want it to be a simple action game, with top score / fastest time oriented gameplay. [:D]

Did you get my latest PM about TIM and the reflect system?

Yeah, sorry… been a bit busy.

Sounds good, what with the more dynamic backgrounds. But how will that affect gameplay? You're gonna need to make it original or you'll get people play it for 5 minutes, no longer, and then adore it forever just because it had nice graphics.

Play it forever, or adore it forever… either is fine with me! [;)]

Looking at this maybe I'll "can" StarPilot after all. Henceforth ye shall be known as Fred the GMM (Game Making Machine). :)
