Hi there good people of 64d…This'll be my second ever blog….i guess…I haven't been on 64d for a couple of days 'cause I've been on 3 day 'holiday' over the bank holiday weekend, so it's cool to come back and see so many new blogs and a couple of new games and stuff up…
Anyways, 'cause i haven't done anything else on the game I'm working on i decided to write about a problem i have with Gamemaker…Whenever i start creating a new game everything always goes smoothly…i love creating a story and sprites, backgrounds and then the objects and scripts to go along with them…However…whenever i get so far into a game (about half way), other game ideas will pop into my head…and for some reason the idea of starting a new game is much more appealing than carrying on with the old one…So…I find myself temporarily suspending the original project and creating the new one…and then…once again…the production of the game will go smoothly until, once again, i have another great game idea…and thus the cycle starts again…Eventually however i will return to all the projects and eventually complete them all…but taking a lot longer then it should have taken…I guess working on the same game all the time would quite obviously get a little boring and maybe i should just try and stick with it to the end….but i guess… i don't like working on a game if I'm not erm…well…enjoying working on it….I wonder if I'm alone in this or if other people feel the urge to create new games in the process of creating another game…Here's hoping i can overcome this problem and create games with much more frequency than before….Anyway, i guess that's it…happy Game making….over and out…
Usually the source of people's "boredom" when working on a game is because the engine is buggy beyond repair, your scripts are disorganised, or your programming ability is not good enough to code the game's features. Once you realise one of these things, your mind subconsciously designs a game that is used to divert your attention from these problems. It sounds like drugs.
Just my theory.
