Thank GOD. After that abomination of a movie, the creators of the actual television series are making a spin off series.Generally I'm not in favor of spin-off series, but Avatar: The Last Airbender was too short and had too abrupt of an ending, and anything to wash out the bad taste of this movie is a welcome sight.I suppose I should admit I never actually saw the movie. I will download it just for the sake of it as I'm a fan of the series, but I've seen clips, heard enough, and know enough that the attempts to compress 10 hours of story into a 2 hour movie cannot POSSIBLY go over well. I mean let's face it, one of the strengths of the series was it's deep character development. There was very little wasted space in the television series. I wouldn't believe it was a good movie if people were raving about it, let alone panning it. It's left a bad taste in my mouth and I haven't even seen it. Anyway, I'm excited to hear about this new series, which is bad because it's now going to feel like 80 years before we get any information about it, let alone it's actual release.
Judging by the title, I will venture a guess to say that Korra is a Waterbender avatar. It takes place 100 years after The Last Airbender, Water is the next element in the Avatar cycle, and the name just sounds a lot like water tribe names, especially when compared to names typical of the other nations.
The original TV series was… Incredible. The only anime - albeit highly westernised anime - that I think is in any way good. It seems a shame to tack on an extension… Who knows, it may be just as good.
Yeah, that's sorta the issue, with adding on to anything that was as good as Avatar was. Always afraid they aren't going to do justice to the original. Especially now that that movie exists. But I think it will be fine. There's no way any big company is going to fuck with what those genius writers want to do, and it may even turn out better than the first series.
We ignore the movie.
You know what, agreed. The movie has the same status as the Zelda CDi games. Officially, they simply do not exist.
God the movie was terrible ;~; I don't think I will ever be the same, I loved the series so much….
"How about head… From a king?"
Yay! It'll be nice to have more Avatar to watch. The series finale was great, but it was a finale (in other words, it meant that there was no more, which was pretty upsetting, really).
As for the movie… I might see it, but only on DVD, and only because I'm a fan of the series.
