So basically, it would be an extension of 64Digits. Only instead of uploading games and examples, you upload game resources: Sprites, Backgrounds, Sounds, Scripts… Whatever. This would provide a great resource database for newer GM users, would provide a search tool to look for whatever you might need, and if someone uses your resources, it helps get your name out there! And it would greatly benifit 64Digits as well, it would definatly go towards making this the best gamemaker site ever (as if it wasnt already :P)
EDIT: It could also upload d3d models, now that i think of it, because you can save and load 3D models through GML :P
This is the best site because of its lack of noobs. Introduce noob friendlyness, and it goes kaboom.
so… like musiclib for everything?
Realize something, the difference between "newbs" and "n00bs". A "newb" is someone new at something, but who is willing to learn from others to become better. Newbs are good.
A "n00b" on the otherhand, is an idiot. They either think they know everything, and they dont, or they go arround begging for handouts all the time. We want newbs, we don't want n00bs. newbs can help build a strong community, unless you desire this place to be some stuck up elitist GM site.Yeah, prety much FB.
o.o
Good idea, now bombard the admins with PMs saying to aprove your idea.
Ahem…. not just new users would use it… for example, I would use the sounds! What about people who can't make as nice things? This way those who know programming can make the game look nice and sound nice as well. And nice script resources could be used by anyone. Just look at DesertFox's collections of unregistered scripts and stuff. But noone complains that he's attracting n00bs!
And besides, if someone uses your stuff, they HAVE to credit you, which helps get your name out there. If they dont, people will pick up on it, as this is a tight community, and people would recognize that they didnt. And to "force" them to post their game here as well, it could be "members only" access to the resources. They won't pass up the opportunity to host their game on such a great site.Uh, ixnay on this having music and sound, those are musiclib-covered (or, rather, music is right now, sound will be very soon)
Yeah, i dont really want to trespass into the area musiclib covers :P but if the idea is implemented, it would be good not to split up all the locations of the resources.
And besides, musiclib is a seperate site now. You should advertise it over at the GMC music area, and elsewhere. This would be a 64Digits exclusive database, while yours can be accessed by anyone. But i'm still sorry if the idea intrudes on musiclib :/
