Well, I last blogged 2 years ago today, 3 days from my bday, woot.
Life..has been up and down. I've been sick for the past week, which should have consisted of my exams, so that's kinda a win, then my grand-uncle died on Tuesday, so had a funeral.. uh, moved on from 360 to PS3 last year (well, nearly 2 years now), wasting hours away on games such as Metal Gear Online, Modern Warfare 2 & BFBC2. I really don't have anything to say about my life, how amazing. Oh well, I'll leave life @ this, not that anyone cares. ^-^GM/etcI only recently found out about GM8, and seeing as I haven't touched GM since like…08/early 09, I decided to download it for the fun of it, and see what's new. Torrented the Director's Cut version, just so I can whore the game even more. =D Ordering Silent Hill Homecoming tomorrow, anybody here play that? If yeah, would you recommend? I'm iffy about it, I liked SH1, I loved SH2, SH3 was ..meh, SH4 was rancid. So yeah, opinions please. Doesn't look like a proper SH installment, which is understandable judging by the whole feel of the game. Who knows, I'll give it a shot.Oh, and the Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition release? damn i really wish i had SH1 now lol. i thought the whole "birthing God" concept in SH3 was the most epic part.
i got Fatal Frame yesterday, as i have been meaning to forever. i've had Siren but it sucks, it's another one to avoid. there are painfully few games that fit with the SH style. i haven't tried Fatal Frame yet but i've heard much better things about it.Fatal Frame, I haven't had a chance to play it; lemme know what it's like. Yeah, Siren was HORRIBLE, imo.
Capturing Silent Hill's atmosphere is hard, to be honest. The birthing of God in Silent Hill 3 was cool, and that plays a heavy part in Silent Hill 1; of which, I have a torrent, if you'd like? I love the psychological horror that SH brings, beats all the shock-games where things just pop out randomly.yes i would like. :) yeah i know, i've been trying to study the mechanics of how you create that atmosphere of suspense, or how you maintain it for long periods without the need for things popping out at you. i think Fatal Frame should serve this purpose nicely, the back of the case indiscreetly says "Scariest game ever"
been waiting all day for nightfall so it will be appropriate to play :(also, i forgot to say that the SH3 soundtrack makes me unusually nostalgic and that's a big part of why it's my favorite.PM'd the torrent.
Yeah, that's a big thing with Silent Hill - it not only makes the atmosphere, it keeps it. Silent Hill 2 is a classic example, in my opinion, throughout the game, it holds this unbelievably tense ambience that kept me on the edge of my seat, my mind was a wreck when playing it - and I loved it.Ahh, the SH soundtracks! I downloaded 1~4, but I spend most of my time listening to 2 - very haunting. Ever hear Theme of Laura?thanks, appreciate it. :)
i think the soundtracks are a big part of that atmosphere too.yeahhh i remember the very first time i heard Theme of Laura. i like a lot of the SH2 tracks, Heaven's Night, Love Psalm, and especially the ambient pieces like Ordinary Vanity and Fermata in Mistic Air.Yeah, the SH2 OST is amazing, it plays such a part in the game (obviously), but it couldn't fit in any better, I love Akira's work, tbh.
That along with the whole attention to detail through-out the game. :Dyeah something i have discovered that is difficult is that you can write good music and still have it not completely fit the way you want it to. >_<
