I know a lot of people don't visit YYG and might not know about this, so heres a link to the planned features for GM8.
http://glog.yoyogames.com/?p=537Anyway, that Islands browser game I mentioned a random amount of blogs ago has finally seen some progress. It now loads the map from mysql and assigns numbers to clickable things so I can program actions for them. I also made a mouse-over effect that will completely break it in IE6. Part of my plan to force people to upgrade IE6 to IE8 =pIf you want to see what it looks like so far, you can check out the test map here: http://gameplague.com/sites/islands/index.php?m=1 (site design is just a placeholder)It's not much yet, most of the work has been behind the scenes. Also, heres a few plans I typed out earlier today:
Quote:
At the start of the game, you have no boat. You get off the first island by starting a fire which gets a boaters attention. He then takes you to a town island, from there you can charter boats to other islands and eventually you will get your own boat.Move by clicking squares next to youcustomizeable character (no walking/animations makes this easy as pie)large item inventory with key items section and regular inventoryturn based battles (like the old 64rpg)Player Owned Islands

The GM8 features sound promising, especially that new code editor.
Well it was also the easiest way to do the mouse over, not working in IE6 was just a bonus. I see no reason to go out of my way for an 8 year old version of a browser when the newer versions are so much better.
