The new avatar was pretty much entirely pixeled this time, the chinese means "Destiny". Comments on technique or style is appreciated, but I'm a noob at pixel art. Anti-Aliasing curves and stuff is my downfall.
Anyways. That was out of boredom. As usual, school sucks, I've barely any time to work on my new platformer, but I've been wondering about college and the crap I need to go through. If anyone here knows any information on undergraduate degrees in fields that include game design, let me know. So far I've been thinking about Parsons, a nice school with a good bit on design and technology. At least, I think it's nice. I haven't researched much about colleges yet and next year is going to be important (11th grade) so I guess I'd better start doing some research. Besides that, I'm obviously going to have a career somewhere with game design (starting out with level design, probably) and it seems pretty interesting to me. Level design has always been quite fun, been making personal maps for Starcraft and Warcraft 3, and a little tiny bit of Unreal Tournament 2004. Not sure about what other editors there are for games because I haven't exactly played a wide variety yet. That might be best to wait until after I graduate or something, I'm just focusing on good grades right now. So, a bit boring recently. Good thing for Game Maker, gives me a little head start on basics of programming, the concept involved, level design, game play, and so much more. I don't know why professionals dislike this sort of stuff - I mean you won't be making quality games with it (unless you're completely well rounded and with good experience), but GM is pretty good and fast for prototyping. It's inefficient for large games but is a great tool to prototype quick 2D games with. Just, the recent involvement with YYG hasn't been great news, but whatever. So, just a little bit of what was on my mind.
But what about the spoon? Must you discriminate? Or are you green…
well i like it outside there is something really annoying about the colors…. try making it either in dark red or black and check how that would look…
I am not a pixel artist, I am a vector artist.
If you want to study game design, don't.There are to many people trying to make it at this field and most of them won't get hired because the industry is only after those that have 10+ years of experience(strange, because the degree has not been around that long). The best designers are actually artist, programmers or people in related fields so I suggest you study electrical engineering(you have the advantage of hardware and software) and specialize in programing. That is what I am doing. If I want to take game design, it will be after I get my degree, then I will be sure of getting a job.Invert the colors on it!
It looks sweet…Nice avy.
