Finally.

If you haven't seen already, Varia is up on 64D. I took my sweet time doing other work before deciding to release it, because I won't have any time to work on it anymore. It's already complete as it is; I can't possibly bring myself to work on it again. While I haven’t gotten the results from the competition yet, I’m hoping for a good spot.

So now it’s back to having a very limited amount of time because of school and all, though I might have another long project to work on soon. Three months for Varia within a deadline kicked my ass, and it really hurt. I somehow got it done during that period with the content it has right now, so I’m pretty relieved. Now only to submit to the other communities.

Half of my purpose in making Varia was me trying to make a long game, as some of you saw how short Kairuga was. The other half was the competition and making an abstract game. I've never gotten far with real sprites, I'm into abstract stuff mostly.

So, that's about it. Hopefully the new project I'm attempting won't be a failure.

I never got to finish Kairuga… you just HAD to put it on hard mode without an option to put medium >_>

Actually, there were all 3 difficulty modes in Kairuga if you looked at the options.

Your game looks really nice, from the preview.

Downloading.

What type of education are you taking?Because I've never thought of school as being a time waster

Besides, what is this new project thing?I take it you plan to do another shump or do you care to try some other genre of gaming?

Kairos 17 years ago

Your standard high school education. It's a time waster in the fact that everything is tedious, yet easy and boring. Because of that, I don't have much time to develop games, though.

Not a shmup. Possibly an RTS.

So is your homework being marked?Because mine isn't,so I just take the teachers' complaints and move on

As for RTSism,I look forward to seeing how you avoid lag if you try to pull off those crazy effects

Kairos 17 years ago

Yes, they are marked. As for the RTS, I doubt I'll get far with eye candy, so I'll see what I can do. I set in space to kill off coding pathfinding and levels of terrain, though.

Happy I don't take your education then.As for the space,a good dynamic spaceBG is all you'll need then for backgrounding.Horrible how many just use an image for such a dynamic thing

I really enjoyed Varia. Defiantly my favorite GM game ever. You made it in three months?? That's awesome. What did you use to make graphics?? How did you learn to do graphics like that??
