New Community Project #2

Posted by Kaz on Oct. 21, 2009, 1:33 p.m.

So I didn't have time to develop any other pages. It seems I've developed bronchitis so I've been pretty lethargic.

Just a note to everyone: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH 64D. I AM NOT REMAKING 64D. I AM MAKING A NEW COMMUNITY.

(Yes there is a 64D logo, its a placeholder, it won't be there next design)

Design 3:

Design 4:

Things for next design:

ETA Friday/Saturday

-User page design

-Game page design(will be similar to graphics)

For those willing to contribute skills:

If any of you want to help create the site, please tell me. This is a large project and it will take a long time to create it on my own. I already know a few are willing to help me. I will need people who are good with PHP, MySQL databases, and javascript(preferably jQuery).

I have my own server and will create access to it for those who are helping when we get to that point.

Even if you do, I can't do anything with it. As said previously, I have nothing to do with 64D other than a part of the community. I have no access to the files, I can't change anything.

Additionally, I can't use the name since:

1. It's taken

2. Two sites named 64D? wat

You could just ask the admins. They're not going to say "actually we want to keep our broken site the way it is". But it depends if you want full control or not. Its just that you might split the community in two.

There are so few users that splitting it in two would be like doing nuclear fission on helium.

In other words, not going to happen.

I dont really like the blue colors as much, maybe the second nav is good, but the main nav i dont think should be that color of blue, or blue in general. (imo)

But I do love the login idea. Maybe have it so you type in the username and password field comes up.

And yeah PHP works great for this. Other methods may be easier but they can both do the same thing.

Also, I think on the front page the "TOP" rated stuff shouldnt be there because it wont change often, and people want to see stuff that is more current. I would suggest something like "top this week". (of course this is just design suggestions, but hey, for future references)

And because it doesnt seem like many design changes are being made right now, I think if people agree this is a good layout that someone should start to develop it ;)

@dabridge: He isn't changing 64digit's name, hes making a new site, 64digits is just a place holder in the design.

Good point. We'll have to see things go. Although I believe if a game if rated #1, more people would want to play it because well, its good.

that is also true, but yoyogames would leave games up for months and i lost interest ;) so, just a suggestion.

Also the reason I dont like the blue may be just because theres no banner. Or maybe it could use a different shade idk.

Another thing, if this is what youre going to use for the menus, im confused with the "Apps" one. Of course it could be executables, but since it is next to webdesign it confused me because the web uses the term "app" as well. So basically, I would have it go "games | apps | examples | web dev | Graphics | Music | Forum" (imo. i think it would be a better order.)

Sounds good. Let me know how development goes starting up.
