First Go at RPG Game

Posted by LAR Games on Sept. 2, 2011, 10:34 p.m.

Well, I started this when I was testing out my stream settings for Justin.tv, and it was very spontaneous. This is my first time making a game like this, so go easy on me.

This is what I have so far, and please, if you think I should add something, please tell me.

You can see the precise moment I started making this here:

EDIT: Also, when is the game submission form going to be fixed?

The whole clicking a bunch of small things bit seems rather annoying imo.

Small things?

Submission still doesn't work? Someone submitted a game just a few days ago…

I don't like how the chests open after you let go of the mouse button, when I first played it, I thought that I had to keep clicking on the chests for them to open.

The chest and the items and all that, they're 32*32 (if that); not very fun to click on when you're doing stuff, not to mention quite tedious.

Actually, you don't need to leave anything pressed just click. The pause is the chest unlocking, and an attempt to fix a bug where you picked up the item in the chest as soon as it opened. Also, The version I have on my computer right now, you have the ability to re-size the window as you see fit, so Panzermancer's problem is fixed with that I guess.

No, the problem is that's annoying, and that sounds like it makes it more so. Why not just have an action button like normal people?

JID 13 years, 3 months ago

I think it's fine that you have to use the mouse button to open the chests, I dunno why Twinsoul Panzermancer has a problem with it or why he thinks everything is too small. My only issue is the delay when opening the chests.

Oh hush Twinsoul. It's not that bad.

And I'm not so irked by the chests either.

It doesn't seem as though you can attack unarmed, and there's no way to lose health or anything.

There also isn't a method of respawning enemies, nor is there any benefit to defeating them.

Past those though, it's a good base to start from! Just add some more content to it and you'll be just fine.

I'm probably going to add magic and melee combat to fix the weapon thing, but first I have to come up with a way to make an inventory. I've never done anything like that before, so it's going to be a challenge for sure.
