Minecraft 1.5 Animation

Posted by LAR Games on Jan. 15, 2013, 3:01 p.m.

As most of you know, 1.5 has an amazing new feature that makes something I've been wanting for a while possible. Custom Water animations.

The way that they implemented this however, makes it possible for ANY texture in the game to be animated.

So, Here's what I'm currently working on with that:

What do you guys think?

It looks nice. =)

Thanks. :D

It may not look like it, but this was many, many hours of work. I finally have a water and lava animation that I'm satisfied with, and I finally got the waving grass to look just right. (In my opinion)

That looks awesome.

The next step should be to recreate the scrolling green random characters seen in the Matrix films.

(That I have never seen)

You've never seen The Matrix?

.. I'm so sorry.

EDIT: And yeah. This opens up so many new possibilities. Even items are able to be animated!

You know you could have done custom water and lava at any time, you just need MCPatcher. My texture pack has had these and mob variations for a while now.

Oh, yeah. I know. I've had a custom water animation in Minecraft for the longest time for use with Optifine and MCPatcher. But I don't really consider anything added until it's in vanilla. My texture pack also has support for connected textures in optifine. I love that.

Also, this is way better than what we had before. Even with mods.

My texture pack has um… 3d textures yeah… and uh… the sky is made of cheese.
