So, I"m sure you guys have heard of the impending release of the Elders Scrolls MMO, which I'm really looking forward to.
Well, a few days ago, I started playing a different MMO to keep me busy until the beta of The Elder Scrolls Online comes out. It's called Tera.I"m sure you guys have seen this before:
Well, that's pretty much true. The armor for women in this game is absolutely ridiculous.Also, there's this:
Yeah. That's actually a race in the game. (I think rob would have really liked this.)Anyway, now that those things are out of the way, let's get to the awesome stuff about the game. This game has hands down, the best combat system of any MMO I"ve ever played. This game is just FUN to play. Killing monsters doesn't seem like a chore compared to other MMOs. Enemies don't generally force you to fight them, either. You can walk right past them if you feel like it.Also, it's going free to play next month. You can play it now though, by going to the site and registering for a free trial. It'll basically last you until the game goes free next month.This game is really, really fun. (Hint, hint.)So, thoughts?
Rob was actually one of the people who introduced me to Tera. I was subscribed up until now, when I found out they went F2P. Here are my thoughts:
- Amazing combat that stays interesting the whole way through- Graphics are great- Skill cap is much higher than most MMOs and it's a lot more difficult but much more fun- Questing is generic and dull- VA kind of sucks- EnMasse doesn't update very frequently, making endgame very boring when playing soloAside from that, I'll be playing this again soon, so hit me up.And yes, one of my characters is the loli race.EDIT: Shinsei +1'd this. For me, the perfect MMO for me would would consist of at least 3 of these things: The dialog system of Star Wars The Old Republic, combined with the Combat of Terra, and the lore and setting of the Elder Scrolls Universe.Interesting. As much as I like eye candy, I have a dislike for many of the gameplay mechanics found in mmos.
TERA looks really nice from looking at the screenshots.
The whole stronger armor covers less is a completely logical thing to have in an MMO. It's so you can kick ass and still look sexy. I mean, who would want to kill a monster while covered up in all that heavy armor? Not many. People would rather be able to gawk at polygonal boobs or butts while fighting.The MMO I'm waiting for is Phantasy Star Online 2. Me and a couple of friends already know what classes we're going to use.I also dabbled with WoW for a week or so before getting tired of it.Oh, and that character in the second screenshot is adorable. I mean that in a non-Rob kind of way. Really.It runs really well for me too. According to a post by a random person on the internet, this game is really well optimized and doesn't' have many performance issues at all.
Get to max level and play the Nexus events. Then we'll see what you have to say about their optimization.

Unfortunately, I may never reach max level since I'm probably going to switch to Elder Scrolls online when that comes out.Guildwars 2 has a pretty good combat system. The rest of it's pretty crap though, there's a huge open world where everything is the same, there are the same 10 monsters in every single map, there's no endgame, dungeons are pretty crap, they did away with class roles which is the dumbest thing ever, the races are so shit I'd actually rather play a human (actually, Char aren't that bad), the gameplay is doing the same 3 tasks in the same 3 types of areas against the same kinds of enemies…
Fuck…This blog is about Tera and somehow I found a reason to start ranting about GW2 some more… I'm just gonna go…Ellipsis…
