Dark Souls

Who here likes Dark Souls? I beat the game recently and I'd like to know who here has also played and/or beat it.

Anyway, Yeah. I bought the game for Xbox a few months ago, and I finally beat it about a month ago.

I also recently started a new game on PC. (Yeah, I bought it twice. lol) Technically I bought it 3 times since The first copy I gave to my little brother, and I had to buy a second Xbox one.

Then it went on sale on steam, and I had to have it for PC.

So, about the new game. I'm playing this new character a bit less leveled than my other one. As in, I'm not leveling him at all.

I'm trying to beat the game with a level 1 character. This is possible. Plenty of people have done it, and it is pretty fun to add a whole new level of difficulty to the game. If I recall correctly, Ferret is/ was doing the same thing, since he plays the game as well.

I've currently defeated:

The Taurus Demon

The Gargoyles

The Moonlight Butterfly

The Capra Demon

The Gaping Dragon

Quelaag

The Iron Golem

I've been using Reinforced Clubs for all of this, and a mix of the Pyromancer, Leather, and Hollow Warrior armors as well.

This is pretty fun. But man, dodging is important when you have so little armor and defense.

I'm currently trying to fight Ornstein and Smough. They are much, much harder than they were the first time. And they were VERY hard the first time.

I'd love to hear your Dark Souls Stories!

I love Dark Souls. I only beat it once but i'm gonna play through it again sometime soon. I don't want to get too distracted during S4D though. 3 days ago I beat Demon's Souls for the first time. Honestly i think Demon's Souls is a bit harder than Dark Souls. Mostly because there isn't much you can do to improve your defense. You can't enhance armor and enhancing your weapons is pretty hard. I only managed to fully upgrade 2 weapons during my 45 hour play through.

I don't know. I've seen gameplay of Demon's Souls, and I see it's VERY similar to Dark Souls just… less refined.

It came before Dark Souls and you can really tell.

Well yeah, it's a bit shorter and some what simpler and more linear but it's still a pretty good game. The level design is a bit harder though, most of the levels are really dark and like i said, it's tougher due to the lack of improving armor. You get 1 def point per level up and that's it. that's the only way to increase your defense so enemies deal a lot of damage through the whole game. Even the weak looking enemies can really cause a lot of trouble in large numbers, even if they don't kill you they will knock you off some ledge or something. Dark Souls turned down the cheapness in that aspect, although it still had 2 areas in the game that were quite similar, those dark caves and that Old Town area.

@LAR's video: granted I've not done a sl1 run, but here are my thoughts on your character:

-Midrolling is terrible, lose some weight (I don't know what rings your character is using, but I'd go for the ever-original combination of ring of FaP+Havel's)

-I'm no fan of family masks, but the mother (stamina regen) or father (higher weight capacity) are much better options

-If you're not going to use the grass crest shield, go for 100% phys resistance and high stability (either balder swag shield or silver knight shield are the best options). The dragon crest and crest shields are ok for fire/magic resistance only.

As a sidenote, my browser lags on your page.

I am using the stamina regeneration mask. The shield I'm using is 100% physical resistance. It also has great magic resistance, but it's probably not the best thing to use in this fight.

I've been thinking about replacing the wolf ring for Havel's, but I'm kind of addicted to the poise. :(

As a sidenote, sorry about the lag. :/

Holy smokes man! A level 1 character huh? I beat it, but there were certain bosses I was only able to beat with a party of 3 (Ormstein and Smough come to mind), There were plenty of people just willing to help out in that section.

There was a point in the game I lost the will to keep playing (the fire lizard, boss thing), but found myself having a lot of fun in the following dinosaur filled section (the zombie t-rex enemy things). I didn't play the expansion though, but I was thinking of replaying Demons Soul.

Finally beat Ren and Stimpy, but a boar ended up killing me on the way to Seath.

Got revenge by killing him hilariously easy:

Why would you bump a two month old blog with a 36 second video

Castypher 10 years, 10 months ago

Juurian, stop trying to moderate.

Though to be honest, I wouldn't have wanted to see this on the Weekly Gaming Night thread either since it has nothing to do with Dark Souls. If anything, LAR, your recent Starbound/Dark Souls thread would have been a good place for it.

I would agree with you there Kilin, but I kind of regret talking about Dark souls in that thread. It seemed that adding that part caused quite a bit of confusion for me, and other people.

Then again, what's done is done, I guess.

Sorry guys. :(

I was just excited.
