God damn flying apes

See, that's what delusions do to you. Flying apes everywhere. Of course, I wasn't quite that bad. Baasically I haven't been around cos I got glandular fever. I've been too busy staring at the wall 24 hours a day for almost two weeks to log on. So sorry about that. I know you need your boredom fix if you honestly read the shit I post. [^^]

Anyhoo, I've been sorting out the storyline for Danse Machina, and I've got a couple of twists up my sleeve. So those of you who think they know whats going on with the story, you should probably think again. Its nothing REALLY mind-boggling or anything, I'm not that good. But its interesting for sure.

I've also worked out a few of the levels. Of course, actual level design isn't done (I hate doing that) but I've been getting ideas (thanks FSX for a few of the ideas). I want the levels to be really big, so each has several parts to it, and each is actually relevant to the overall story, instead of just being filler.

Right now, I've got to make an UT2004 CTF or Onslaught map, then I have to make a Flash game, then I have to make a silhouette animation, then I gotta finish off my mehanical spider animation in 3DSMax, then I gotta finish the program for the laser tag game we're making, and THEN I have about 6 weeks to work on DM! YAY!

In other news, I was down at the EB Games store yesterday, and I chatted up the dude at the counter and he game me some free stuff so that was cool. The point in this is he gave me the Titan Quest demo! I've been waiting for that game for AGES, and it FRICKIN ROCKS. I love it when people realise that good ideas don't need changing. Titan Quest, for those who don't know, is almost exactly like Diablo II gameplay-wise, but its 3D and looks amazing. I could drone on about that game for hours, but I just recommend you go find it and get it ASAP. If you liked Diablo II that is. If you didn't like DII, then what the hell are you doing reading my blog? Seriously, if you call yourself a gamer, and you don't like Diablo II, you're either bipolar or have a conflict of interests and need to come to terms with your sickness. You're pathetic. There is help available, but the best thing you can do for yourself is bash your head into a tray full of used syringes and rusty nails, because it has to feel better than the obvious torment you're putting yourself through everytime you claim you're a gamer… Of course, I understand that Diablo II is reaching old age now, and needs to be put out to pasture, but until Titan Quest, there has not been a single game in the genre that has come CLOSE to being half of what DII is. So now, with TQ, we can finally lay the venerable DII to rest.

Well, hay pescados del tubo respirador en mi submarino, so I'll just take off. Cya!

Heh, I'll have to try out Diablo. My friends got it today and they say it's good.

Haha sounds exactly like me, it may have something to do with the rather weak room editor in GM.

Diablo II = cool. I hate level design, also.

Ouch. I hate nasty diseases. I'd rather shoot myself than stare at the wall for two weeks. Ok, maybe not. Welcome back though. [^^] I'd like to say "check out my new blogs", but I almost forgot that I write the most boring blogs on the face of the universe, so… nevermind.

Sounds like you spent quite a bit of time thinking about the story when you were sick. Flying apes do give interesting inspirations. :)

I like designing everything, but I prefer game design to level design. But… it IS a challenge to interlace it with the plot, instead of just being fillers. That's the hard part, I agree.

About large levels… they're fine as long as you separate it into several rooms. It can really boost performance and make DM actually playable for a wider range of audience. I highly reccomend doing so. You may loose just a little bit of the "feel" of the game, but only a little. I believe that it's much better than losing potential fans just because your rooms are too large (thus, causing massive lag). I'm also saying this because I really want to fully appreciate DM in all its glory. I'm sure that others with slow computers agree.

JUST six weeks to work on DM? Ack. The suggested scope of this game is huge. You can finish it in just over a month?

Hahaha, I love Diablo II. Blizzard makes some truly fascinating games.

Dungeon Siege was 'okay' but really… Come on… I mean it… No.
