Why? Because despite telling myself that the iPad is a moronic, useless slate of shit that I'd never even consider buying… somehow I let someone convince me that I really, really need to get one.
It was actually the awesome show CO-OP that convinced me, during their coverage of some iPad games. During said coverage, I happened to realize that the iPad is also the perfect device for consuming manga digitally. You can read manga on a laptop yes, but a laptop is woefully over-sized for the task, and the screen orientation and the input methods don't suit the task very well either. The iPad, on the other hand, is simply perfect for it.So yeah. Besides having some pretty neat games on it, it also happens to be a great device for watching tv and movies, and reading books and manga. And by great, I mean better than a laptop. If you're using the device for these purposes, it just makes much more sense than a laptop. Surfing the web is another matter, but even without Flash, I'm sure that browsing the web is a delight on the iPad.So now I have many questions I'm struggling with:How much storage space do I need?Do I spend the extra $130 for the 3G model?Can I think of any flaw that could possibly change my mind? Please?!
Well then I'd still wait around until they make a second generation with at least an SD slot. And if money isn't a problem you can get the keyboard dock.

Fuck apple. There are way better TABLETS out there (tegra processer!) that actually support, PC-like functionality.
You can't make an argument that it is anything more than a giant iPod touch, because it is LITERALLY a giant iPod Touch (Zune HD is way smoother/better btw). Sure, its a little faster, but it still runs the iPhone OS. I don't understand how a product that runs a phone OS is suppose to revolutionize the computer industry.And that's why Steve is genius.
Apple sucks for not putting Flash on any of their iDevices. They promised the full internet, wtf.
@Scott: Probably not Steve, but their ad. campaign is stellar. They blatantly lie while distracting you with cute little jokes. No, I totally agree they sell their shit amazingly and that they are a better company than microsoft/google, but you are basically paying for flashiness that you could get much cheaper elsewhere.

@tylerthemiller: Regarding the OS… it's part of what makes the iPad appealing. The device's sole purpose is to consume media, whether it be books, comics, videos or games. A touch-screen enabled Windows 7 would just get in the way. And is probably more of a drain on resources than an OS designed to run on a phone.
But, yeah, I agree that the Zune HD is superior to the iPod Touch. I really wish they'd make it into a phone…But gaming on the HD? The Texas Hold 'Em game is fairly fun, but that's about it. And regarding the opinion that the iPad is just a big iPod Touch… yes, yes it is. And that's what makes it appealing. Bigger makes it better for watching videos, looking at pictures, reading books/comics, playing games, etc.
