I WAS HAXED =D

JOURNAL ENTRY 9/2 - 9/5

By who you ask?

The noob shank who invented the Video DirectX Access virus.

What did it do, you say?

It caused my computer to go in a never ending spiral, of desktop refreshing and ultimately causing me to go into the fetal position for about 3 hours. Every 5 sec. when it refreshed, all programs that were running closed, giving me a 5 sec window to scan my whole system. (that didn't work)

How did you delete the bastard, you ask?

I'm glad you asked.

I figured out that the only program that ran properly was the Task Manager so I started "Ending Processes" for random .exe's to see if that would stop the refreshing to allow me to run a spyware scan. And then I clicked explorer.exe and ended its process. It worked. Don't ask me why or how, it just did. And finally I was able to delete the virus.

THE END.

How was your labor day weekend?

Great (see blog entry).

You could also have started in safe mode and deleted it.

If it had infected explorer.exe then it would have started in safe mode also.

Does not sound too nice of a virus really, Linux all the way.
