Actually it's been quite slow. To address a few plaques besides brazen laziness and lack of of give a damn it's the output quality and speed in which I can produce usable material. Stupid shit like MS Paint not having adequate color handling tools like auto color picker, or even ability to load the palette bar externally. Then trying to piece everything else together. I'm pretty sure all is well though, and I should just continue working. I really can't wait until it's all just coding or making pretty drawings. So I've been liking that SAI image editor. Also generally preferring the use of GM 8's built in editor because I'm like switching colors 3 times a second, something I can't do in paint. I've tried to use Paint.net it's just too flaky and unnatural for me. I would like MS paint to just have an auto color picker (or alternate pallete loading method), or might end up using SAI's binary brush to do my pixle art. Pretty much open for suggestion here. Trying to avoid anything to clunky or resource hogging.Recent developments in the plot follow these concept drawings. Both don't actually appear in the game. Well maybe, so I was autistic enough to draw them up. The plot developments lean towards the 'other' side of the story. Regardless it's actually quite a bit tying things up with barely relevant 'nouns' by now, I hope to make most dubious references pertaining to.Human King; Muhhamad Akmar, Naquib. This huge man here is father of Muhammad Amarul Aslah… Bin Akmar. As the former king of humans he is overshadowed in a cannological, and literal sense by Jurisuite. The Jinn lady holding the baby is an acolyte knight favored by the humble king. This dudes death pretty much ignites the entire plot. If I didn't make a graphical representation of him somewhere in game it'd be a shame. Majinn King Alex HirokiCrazy looking bird lady. Actually sporting a bird tail and talons which is more beastly (not to mention furry) than I usually go. The king of the other side I expect no one to be familiar with yet. Jinn of coarse. This lady is dead too. Why the fuck did I draw her? This is the former king of Jinn. So it seems an entire generation of kings has died at once. Story in a nutshell, with no outstanding details. Malakhim, the species of light. Majinn, the species of fire. Human, the species of clay. Without spoiling anything outstanding the species of light, and the species of fire are both trying to use the species of clay as a weapon of war. Of coarse the humans go about there own way in complete anarchy as things are built from the ashes to burn shit into more ashes, and build more things to burn more ashes. My work has actually been criticized for explicit religious references, which generally indicates being uncreative for one. Explaining the slight overhaul in which I'm changing background details first to see what I got to work with. A lot of things aren't going to change. I also feel the strong cultural overtones are imposing to Americans who like metro-sexual men with inexplicable laser weapons, sniper riffles fired from standing positions, and gratuitous sex jokes in there video-games. I dunno.I've probably already confused everyone. It's probably evident in the first blog about Akmar (which is my second blog in total) what these Jinn, and things called humans are, and how the story is some indirect conflict. I could prob cover more of the story when I actually have it down. Better yet produce more screen shots and otherwise keep my beta testers busy. I want to keep people interested. Could be fun… So far a keystone in my development is looking towards more boss-like enemies like Zephiel (demon dog jinn) and comparing the damage outputs of weapons, and the impact of stun reversal attacks in which enemies come out of stun with stun armour, and the fastest attack in there arsenal. Thanks for reading bros. Reflecting on what I wrote I don't blame you for not following very much. I would like to get through key points as I tried with the underlining here. I wish I had some more finalized stuff for you all, but I just wanted to get it out there that me and my buddies are putting our heads together to put something out there. Hope you enjoy and g'night.
TL;DR;ML;KS
Nice art, skimming tells me this could be interesting. Or you could be attacked by extremists.Oh how fun. Actually of all the touchy subjects I brush to make an edgy cool videogame I don't think there is anything outstanding. BTW Muhhammad is a common first name meaning 'Praise worthy' since that's the first thing I think of when you say extremist.
I know its a common name, and thats why its kind of funny about the drama behind it.
ML = maybe-laterKS = kinda-skimmedFYII thought it was To Long; Didn't Read, Might as welL Kill Something
Hey, it'd be good to see a good game inspired by Islam that doesn't fall into either Your Stereotypical Prince of Persia or a work where the references are so mercilessly butchered it makes anyone who speaks Arabic cry (*cough* Dune *cough*).
Y'know being compared to Prince of Persia is an interesting subject. For example when choosing names for the malakhim leader I go for 'Ali Malak Al-mulk' which means angle of the realm, or prince of sovereignty. Then there is a leader in that game that just goes by 'Malik' I see.
The noun for the Arabic genie, or jinn. My game doesn't work without the concept, or would be lame without. Japanese people keep spelling it like the German Djinn, so I use an unrelated Japanese word that sounds similar and has a similar meaning. Majinn means mad spirit, and Jinn are the fire. What I'm trying to say is I'm at risk of looking like a rip off on a very superficial level involving what nouns I use, and that is something I constantly have to think about. Doesn't matter if there Malik is a stereotypical Bahgdad bazzar bum, and mine is some angel leader who looks nothing the same. I guess there first 'videogame fallacy' is taking the race of Jinn and just naming a sword after it. I dunno, I'm just reading the Wikipedia.Naw. I only picked up Paint.net for spriting and it didn't work for me. I think SAI would be better for spriting
I heard MS Paint was pretty good.
