It's like having the gun in FPS game that disables shooting…
That's how I felt about Renounce Darkness when it was spoiled. Why make a card for someone who DOESN'T want to build a deck??

But then I played a ton of Renounce discolock for quests. I hated both the idea of Renounce Darkness and the anxiety of random discard, but did some exposure therapy.

What I found out: 'reduce the cost of Renounce cards by 1' is not a pittance. When you play Renounce late in the game, and you have the board and a hand size greater than like three, you keep the board. There's some timing involved and it's cool.

You tap, tap, tap and play a ton of zoo cards that sometimes lets you rummage. But its not exactly zoo because it runs so much freaking removal. You end up leveraging a huge amount of cards that you put into your deck by hand to pull it all off. And isn't that why we play a deckbuilding game?

Explore Un'Goro makes Renounce look like a mastapiece rn, but it has its differences, so the deck that uses it best might have some cool nuances just like Renounce does.

Explore doesn't replace cards that are already in your hand, if you keep an Auctioneer in hand before using explore, you will probably pop off hella hard. If you've ever played Noodle Warrior, you'll know Warrior can play SUPER low to the ground just like discolock, with Wild Pyro + Blood to Ichor / Inner Rage / Commanding Shouts, Loot Hoarders, weapons!!!! (my favorite thing about hearthstone,) brand new Sleep with the Fishes too, etc.

Noodle Warrior used to play all that cycling stuff to get so many combo pieces in hand … I think Auctioneer+Explore Un'Goro on a clear board soon enough to matter is a realistic goal, and the deck involved might be cool af to play. That's all that matters. If the payoff is 100% RNG dependant, but its functionally a crappy finisher card… I won't mind the RNG.

Also fuck babbling book, every other card that generates card advantage from thin air, and the reno+kazakus decks that are getting away with running all of them rn. Holy shit.

I don't have N'Zoth, so playing control warrior against these decks is like trying to make 30ish cards outvalue 50. Why does Garrosh have to use 2 gorehowls to kill all this shit, you feel me?

I joined between Naxx and GvG and really enjoyed it for a long while.
Those were the times!

Haha, no way I'm going anywhere close to that anime abomination.

And Faeria? Eh…

The problem with Hearthstone clones is that they feel like replacement Hearthstones.

"I could be playing REAL Hearthstone right now" - this is what I think while playing them.

And then - you guessed it - I get back to Hearthstone.

There's also The Elder Scrolls: Legends and Eternal.

It's World of Warcraft all over again - CGG's are popular now, but they are the same.

Like ruining MMORPG's was not enough.

Blizzard, the Destroyer of Genres.

Well, there's Gwent, that is mostly not Hearthstone.

Cool nuances
Right now I can only think of one cool way to use this card: Imagine you're going against aggro warrior and somehow you survive to turn five. Normally you would probably win because it has run out of steam. Instead, warrior uses this card and starts dropping out random impossible to remove legendaries and you lose the control game.

The worst are rogues. They play your class cards against you and they even get better cards than those you have!

I do not blame you. I feel dirty playing it.

Yeah, that one is a big hit or miss with people. I'm enjoying it currently, but the land stuff sometimes gets too annoying to want to deal with. Plus the matches tend to last way longer and often the game feels "decided" early on. I doubt I'll play it as long as Hearthstone. Also there's no Android app currently which is a bummer.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends
I've been wanting to try this one out. I watched some gameplay and it looks just different enough that it wouldn't feel like a HS clone. Though the multiple lanes makes me think of Faeria in being too much crap to deal with, though not nearly as much.

I've only played HS and ESL. ESL is a lot like Hearthstone, it's awesome.

Things that are different off the top of my head are prophecy and lanes as you probably know, you essentially get to use "The Coin" three times if you go second, creatures can have lifelink (yay,) freeze eachother (tap, doesn't untap next turn or something like that,) creatures can be equipped with items, and there are "support" cards which are like enchantments…

If you're worried about easily getting blindsided with lanes, you don't have to worry because prophecy draws you a ton of stuff you can fill both lanes with.

I would totally play OSRS, but I can't afford it.

I'm saving for GMS2, so no RS for me =|

Then again, I've sold like 5 copies of Sector Six overnight. Hmm…

And damn, that's a quest cape. I need it.

Cpsgames 7 years, 9 months ago

I don't even.

+ Ice Block x 2, + Frost Nova x 2, + Doomsayer x 2

Please, PLEASE don't be as broken as it looks.

(To get this card you need to cast 6 spells that aren't from your deck. Yes, you are encouraged to do that.)
