After consideration and some desire shown to extend the deadline, I have decided to extend the deadline until November 9th, 2014 @ 23:59 UTC. This is a 10 day extension to the deadline and should be enough time for participants to finish up their games to the best of their abilities within the time frame.
We've reached the final hours of Scary4Digits 2014! I hope that you've all made some good progress on your games to enter them before the deadline at 23:59 UTC tonight! For those who haven't submitted their entries yet and are still planning to do so, you need to upload and submit the game to the site before the deadline in order to be eligible. If for some reason you cannot submit your entry on the site, you may use another website to host your game on and send me the link either through email, a message on here, or through the official #64digits IRC channel (the link to which can be found above in the "64Social!" section of the menu bar thingy).
I know some of the entrants have already "dropped out," stating that they were unable to make anything or didn't have enough time to make what they wanted. I want to reiterate again that it doesn't matter what you have done, so if you're thinking of not submitting your game because it's not "finished" but it's still a playable game that utilizes the themes given to you, don't. Submit the game, continue working on it, and update it as you make more progress to get it to where you feel it's "finished".
You
can update your entry after you've submitted it, but this does not guarantee that everyone who played has it before will update it to play it again; when the voting period begins, users may not look upon your updated entry when voting for their favorite games.
You have nothing to lose by entering with an unfinished game, as dropping out now is just a waste of the time you spent working on it. You'll still be eligible to win prizes as long as your entry doesn't go against the rules, whereas by not submitting you have no chance to win anything at all.
The amount of time left isn't enough for everyone to be able to make something - even if it's a simple, tiny game - so I don't expect anyone who has made hardly any progress or none to enter. With that said, if you want to try it, by all means do so and prove to me and the rest of the community that you're capable of pumping out a game when it matters the most!I want to wish you all the best of luck in these final hours. Make us proud and submit an entry!
REMEMBER: THE COMPETITION NOW ENDS NOVEMBER 9TH, 2014 @ 23:59 UTC (6:59PM EST).
Good luck all. Can't wait to see what people submit.
I don't have a game to submit, but I'll leave this here:
I really wish I knew how many people are working on their entries still. I wouldn't be opposed to extending the deadline by a couple of days if I knew people would make use of the extension and submit their entry.
im still working intensely on mine, only got like 3 hours of sleep the past two or three days. lol
and an extension would be fantastic. one extra day would be good enough for me.(unless anyone else wants more than that)Alright. I'm extending the competition deadline until November 9th.
Please, everyone who was considering quitting due to the lack of time within the deadline: continue working on your entry within the deadline and do as much as you can! Be productive!I just woke up after 4 hours of sleep to finish the game before work and now you're telling me this? :D
Great info, maybe I won't be forced to release so buggy game as it is now. Good luck all!Argh, now I don't have any excuses. :<
This means… I have nine extra days time to finish the final battle for my game! Otherwise my game is finished (like I told in my latest blog), I just have to submit it here.
Hey, so I guess it's okay to submit something later today and then make an update before the end of the deadline? Just so we have something to play on halloween, too… ;)
