Depressed [Slightly :3]

Posted by RICANJO on July 14, 2007, 1:08 a.m.

I really should be optimistic, but i'm really down at the moment. I really don't know why. And it's really odd. I mean, I had my school prom a few days ago, which was great. I've just got a job working in a games shop, which is something I've really wanted to do. I've got loads of time off which is excellent. And I'm seeing all my friends everyday, which I really enjoy.

But I just feel…

I dunno. It's just hard to explain. It's probably just depression.

[EDIT]

I knew it wouldn't last. I'm feeling more optimistic already. Ha, you wouldn't think telling people your problems would help make you feel better eh? :P

[/EDIT]

Ignoring my strange mood, in terms of Game Maker related news, I'm working hard on Untitled Horror Project. I'm not sure if anyone actually reads the project info for it; I try to update it everytime I add something new to the game.

The latest additions are the energy bar which slowly decreases as you run, and will also decrease for other activities. A room indicator has been added that tells you of your current area. And I've also added a heart rate meter that rises/decreases depending on the current situation. Obviously, if it gets too high, Anthony stops and has to wait a period of time to recover.

Hopefully this is turning out well. Next thing I'll be working on is an inventory, and when that's done, I can continue working on the story. For good measure, I'll give you a few screenshots of what I've got so far:

I noticed I've got just over 1770 hits now, so thanks for reading ;D

Blogging off. Ric.

Your art style is awesome. The heart rate feature sounds interesting. It'd be cool if you added a heart-beating sound that increases in volume depending on your heart rate.

Ah yes, I hadn't thought of that, but that's a pretty awesome idea. Thanks!

I think it would be a good idea to have medicines which heal you but give you a side effect to balance it out. for example painkillers make you move slower but you take less damage

Also you could place events or objects like beds which decreases heartrate and gives the game some balance.

The game looks very good so far keep it up!

(could use some lighting though as its a bit bright for a horror game…)

Don't be down. Look at the bright side, you could be me.

If you don't have one already already, get a girlfriend and your depression will magically disappear.

…until she drops you like a bad habit.
