These past few months (hell, past few years) I've been wool gathering a lot. Not really developing anything solid enough to call a finished game. Those who know a bit about me would know that I usually have great game ideas, but not enough FOCUS to actually stick to one game idea and work on it for more than a few weeks.
However, I've been thinking tenfolds deeper this past week (maybe it's some New Year's jive or whatever getting to my head of whatever). After re-playing many famous indie platformers out there such as An Untitled Story by YMM, Eternal Daughter by Derek Yu and co, Cave Story by Pixel (forgot his real name, he's some japanese dude that's all i know), La-Mulana by GR3 Team etc. etc. I can't help but notice that the one crucial thing that is present in all these well known and arguably epic games is that they all took time to make. I also think to myself: Now why can't I make something like that? I definately am well above qualified (trying not to sound like boasting here (who am i kidding? major ego coming thru!) in the storyline / design / ideas / creativity / imagination or whatever you call that special node somewhere in my brain. Why can't I make something like that? You can call this a New Year's resolution or whatever the hell you want to call it, but I've decided to finally try and buckle down and most importantly FOCUS on something. As some of you know, I've been developing a pixel artist's skill. I plan to utilize that in this grand scheme. This project (half boiled idea, but on its way) might take years to come to fruition, but I daresay I can finally do my imagination justice in that time (atleast i hope so).Expect regular updates on this project (another New Year's resolution (i dont usually do regular updates on something as u can see from the long periods of blank time between my entries)) in the future.Wish me luck– ruhtrA
