When I shared my ambitions to develop commercial games under the moniker Uyamau Games last blog, I intentionally left out any mention of my current project since, well, it's… a fan game.
I've mentioned it here in the distant past, so you may have heard of it: Pokemon Purple, a Pokemon fangame with Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover. My plans for Pokemon Purple were originally for it to be a typical full-length Pokemon game, albeit with the atypical NGE aspects. But then one night when the initial ideas for Crimson Core hit me, I decided that Pokemon Purple was a waste of time and that I'd rather get to work on Crimson Core ASAP. However, due to certain people's interest in Pokemon Purple, I decided I wouldn't completely abandon it. Instead, I planned to make it into a much shorter game that only spanned about a quarter of a typical Pokemon game. Recently though, I've changed my mind and I'm now back to my original plan of making it into a full-length game. But it's not going to be a typical Pokemon game, NGE crossover aside. I'm going to take the opportunity to experiment with different mechanics, partly for Crimson Core's sake, partly for my own amusement. So I can't guarantee that the resulting game will be any good, but it'll definitely be interesting. The first step though is going to be completely remaking the game from square one. Rather than try and make my current code play nicely with GM Studio, I'd rather just redo it all from the beginning. I find that when I redo things from scratch, they generally turn out better than my previous attempt due to the experience I gained since I originally did them.
