Fus! Ro! Dah!

I actually got to take up Skyrim. Sweet.

Unfortunately, I don't know Fus! Ro! Dah!, so I can't really put it in the blog title.

Or can I?

*Edits title*

Now, I realize how incredibly unpunctual to the collection (I hate the phrase 'tardy to the party') I am concerning this game, but it is in fact glorious.

I just recently learned how to shout pain at people.

Cue fumbling around and dropping the controller directly onto the R2 button as I am facing the Jerl of Whiterun.

He seemed unfazed, but the litter of guards around the room were quite hasty in sticking me with swords.

"Taizen Chisou" the Dragonborn has been playing for a little over four hours, and is very nearly level 5. Only one more stat level to go.

I currently have to ascend some huge-ass mountain (here I was thinking the Bleak Temple Whatever was bad enough) to go to some Higher H-someplace and do something and also descend on the other side of the mountain to meet the Greybeards.

I do have to ask you how I am supposed to be buying any of this higher-priced bullshit because I never seem to be able to amass more than 800 gold at a time.

Especially not my own house.

The one in Whiterun is 5,000 dollars. Should I spring for it? What does it do? Do I need to defend my territory from the thieves and beggars outside? I don't need to buy furniture, do I? Why is it that I can never sleep and be just as well off as I would be after a good night's rest?

And why is my character above sleeping in a bed owned by other people if he can break into their houses and kill everyone in it?

Will I ever beat this game?

Man, I'd really love to get into Skyrim, but I'm reaaaally picky about fantasy games, since it's not my favorite genre.

And since I've had enough of Bethesda's half-baked BS with the Fallout series, that just forced me to not wanna get it even more.

Ah well, like any other game, kill shit, level up, become a boss by hour 43.

Dude

Speech is a stat

You can read a book

And level up, because leveling up individual stats counts as experience

And then pour your stat bonus into MP and your perk into Electricity Might Disintegrate Enemies

That way you can say that reading books allowed you to kill things more effectively

So no, it's not "kill things, level up,"

It's "develop character, level up," "however a character who reached level 25 through two handed skill and shields and magic would be much better than that of a pickpocket and alchemist and linguist."

But killing things is like, the meat of most modern day games, right? RIGHT!?

Half baked? Fallout 3 was too incredibly detailed and fleshed-out to be half baked, in my opinion. Their games are some of the most immersive experiences I've ever had in video games.

I already have 2 characters with over 200 hours on each in Skyrim.

I would say Bioshock 1 and Mass Effect 2 were the most immersive games that I've played so far.

That's because you're doing it wrong, Cyrus.

You must become one with the game.

Then.. And ONLY THEN, shall you know the feeling.. of immersion.

By half-baked, I mean the amount of bugs and issues they leave for the community to fix at release point.

By now they know that their games are good, and people will play them, and people -will- fix their bugs if they continue to support modding. So they get away with that half-baked crap all the time.

I think I heard something about dragons that flew backwards? They might be supposed to do that. All part of the immersion.

In my opinion, Bethesda is better at building worlds than building game engines. So, I kinda agree with you there.

I love all of Bethesda's games. Sure, they might have some bugs, but their story lines and game play make up for it in the end. They make a really good new world to play in.

Hope you enjoy Skyrim, I did! :D
