Chaos Weapon for once.
I've been reluctant to post anything about it since transferring the system to the Ricerca Strano engine, so this'll be more me asking you about frustrating things in RPGs.Because I'm not going to lie. This game will be very frustrating, more so to play than to program, and that's saying something.IN WHICH TAIZEN IS A SADISTFor those of you who have seen my Shadows Are Horrible Crap video on YouTube for this game, good, you know how I make encounters. If not, then why the hell not?! To note, I do love Atlus games more than Square Enix. There are also these little tidbits:Your characters prefer certain weapons, and will deal extra damage with them. But the game won't tell you who likes what.Your characters have innate elemental resistances. But who's weak to what isn't something it brings up.The game doesn't tell you what your Speed stat is.Random encounters.HE IS ALSO BAD AT BALANCEI put together new formulas for the three weapon classes (there are 9 styles of weapons in three damage types). The damage currently goes Smash > Slash > Pierce. As in, something like 14 > 12 > 7, or 80 > 72 > 59.To balance this, the characters with the Smash class affinities all have ass defenses (save for one) and take damage from more elements of magic. The few with Pierce affinities don't quite suck at magic, but the actual mage characters themselves have Slash and Pierce type weapons. The stats are also completely freaking bonkers. The character with the highest STR gets 300 points of it. The weakest gets somewhere along the lines of 120.The deviation in HP would be like, the tank has 990 HP (out of 999) and the weaker ones have 400.Oh, but the Speed values at Level 99 would be like, 170, 140, 139, 136, 135, 130, 129, 129, 124.So that's not so bad?I kind of wanted to make the stat differences large enough to justify having ten characters, but> Lightnagun used Puritus Endorcis> Mage takes 240 damage> Warrior takes 796 damage> Other Mage takes 275 damage> Gunman takes 630 damageI was considering tossing out the stat system on the whole and try again, because, well, I think there's something wrong with the idea of hitting for 70s with your hands at level 1.Slash weaponry:5(Lv/3)(Atk/Def)Smash weaponry:Sqrt(Lv)Sqrt(Atk(Atk2/Def2))Pierce weaponry:Lv(Atk/Def)The Slash formula is essentially the Pierce formula times 5/3, but I can't think of any other, really.Taking Forever To Do NothingMaking the Lunacy Star series is millions of times easier than making this game. But it's been seven years and for some reason, I can't ever seem to escape Square One.I guess concrete progress would be a little easier if things didn't break all the time.Which is a shame, too, because the old version, that looked like FF, was running so well.
I like the orbital menu for choosing your actions.
Shit, now I need to put one into the new engine >:V
