So instead of learning some complicated tracker BS to make 8-bit soundy songs and tiring of how obvious GXSCC use is, I just loaded up some waveform samples into FL Studio and tried writing songs using that.
Here's an old song that's been converted: http://soundcloud.com/taizenchisou/whatAnd now here's an attempt at an original song using this: http://soundcloud.com/taizenchisou/8bitdumbnessI dunno, works well enough for me! :VAny suggestions/ideas/comments/etc to make this sound a little more legit?
…
it works
but id just use a vstGood fakebit is indeed attainable! The tweakbench plugins get pretty close and are affordable (read:free). If you wanna go hardcore you could use quadrasid or one of the more advanced emulations.
But hey, trackers are fun too!I use a VST from a company called Plogue.
Check it out. :PWhoa, that Chipsounds thing is looking pretty cool, but I have no means to buy internet stuff >_>;
Seems like it'll fit the game. :D
I like the screech/sweep at the end. :PHey, thanks~
It's the "oh shit" flavor of boss battle theme that I was going for(the original midi)(it's also slightly inspired by the FFX boss theme because it's been stuck in my head for days)QUESTION?
Here are two versions of the boss battle theme, which one sounds better?Source MIDIVia GSXCC:Via FL Studio and VSTs and whatnot:Feedback appreciated!The FLstudio version is better, hands down.
There is more variation between the sounds and it's more lively.You can almost imagine someone falling asleep and dying during the game while listening to the GSXCC version, imo.
