Life is such a fragile thing, it seems.
Thursday, a student at my school's BOCES program(it's a out-of-school class program, mostly teaches computer science and such), suddenly collapsed during class, and lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital where he unfortunately passed away. Now, I didn't know this kid, but a good friend of mine did, and happened to be within feet of him when he collapsed and had a seizure(as my friend describes it). In essence, he watched his friend die before him.I've been doing everything I can to keep his mind off of it, as hard as it is. The day it happened, I called him as soon as I got home in an attempt to console him. The first words out of his mouth were, "Yeah, I watched a kid die today…"From that point on, I knew it was going to be a very tough time for him. I'm going to do everything I can to keep him in high spirits, and help him through his traumatic experience.I actually wanted to go to his house this weekend, but I can't because I have to fucking work. I'd much rather be at his house right now, because I can keep a close watch on him. It's bad enough he went through this, but he also suffers from severe depression, for which he takes medication. For now, I'll just do the next best thing - call him everyday and let him know I'm there for him.Wow, I just realised that sounded like some kind of Hollywood movie cliche. But I don't care. That's my duty as a friend.
Wow, that's gotta suck.
… okay… 2 people dying of the same cause within the same area is not a very good sign…
What do you mean, shadowstrike?
Holy shit, that's really saddening.
"some kind of Hollywood movie cliche"Oh well. There's a difference… Hollywood only cares about money. At least he wasn't murdered, like a friend of mine was in September. But either way, that makes me very sad. I hope your friend feels better. Do you have any clue what happened?
BTW, I like your new name. All I know is that the staff suspects he had heart problems, and that his blood pressure was dangerously high and caused the seizure.
I would suggest going to his funeral. (if you can) Trust me, you'll regret it if you don't, even if you didn't know him well.
I went to BOCES last year…
Maybe we live close to each other? I live near Johnstown. Not that close, it seems. I live near Oswego, over 100 miles away.
My prayers are with you and your friend. It really puts life and your priorities in focus when something like that happens. One realizes what's really important and what's not in life. Afterwards, one can't be the same. Just do you best to make sure that your friend pulls through positivly in the end.
