The ogres are the worst part, they would ruin the terrain even more than this new mob will.
OH GOD RUN AND HIDE RUN AND HIDE RUN AND HIDE
Creepers were never really that "scary" anyway, it's just really irritating when they blow up your stuff. i wonder if this will be a night-only mob.
they should be called Slenders! =DNotch is calling them Endermen, as a reference to Slender Man.
The thing about creepers is that they only blow up if you mess up and get too close, it looks like these just pick up blocks randomly which will get tiresome. What I could see working is if the block returns whenever you kill them, so they could temporarily weaken your structures but not cause any actual damage.Or maybe they can only dig up dirt/sand type blocks, it would still be very annoying but it would at least limit the damage.i play on peaceful, cause i don't want ragequit moments like that :P
@Kabob: it may not appear so obviously as "damage", and minecraft does get boring since the terrain never changes on its own.The terrain changing like that wouldn't make it more interesting, it would just mean you have to repair endermen holes in addition to creeper craters. I don't think a random 1 block hole in the ground is going to make you enjoy minecraft more.
The main thing is in multiplayer the mobs get a lot more time to wander around, plus if an endermen breaks somebody elses stuff nobody is going to fix it so the damage will add up. It's not like creepers where the damage is a players fault. But we might as well just wait and see how notch implements it, no point in arguing over features that aren't confirmed. How does something that doesn't appear as damage appear to be anything in minecraft terrain gen? Especially something interesting, lol. Unless they also make their own signature mounds of mundane blocks.. that'd be neat!
Why wouldn't random single block holes appear as damage? They aren't very common.
Kabob, relax, if these mobs get annoying, it will probably be easy to mod the server to limit their impact.
