Back

Last night me, ruhtrA and teh_pwnerer came back from school camp. We stayed in and around the Taupo region of New Zealand. It was an awesome camp, us three all stayed in the same group, as well as another of our friends called Matthew.

Taupo

Our first night's stay was at Taupo, in a really cool lodge, which for a camp, was luxury. Each group had a cabin room with an en suite. There was also a pool and a massive 'bouncing pillow'. This place was the best of our stays

The next day at Taupo, we did two activities: Mountain Biking and Wet Exits.

Mountain Biking was a few hour long bike in rough terrain near the Huka Falls. Me and ruhtrA stayed at the back of the last group, because we are extremely lazy, and had a great time. Matthew and teh_pwnerer stayed at the front, and teh_pwnerer did a massive flip coming down a hill and we all laughed :D. My right leg got a long scratch on it, as well as being covered in bruises, and I still find it hard to sit down :P.

After the biking, we did wet exits in Lake Taupo. This was sitting in a sea kayak with a spray cover on it, and then flipping over and escaping from the kayak. Matthew managed to roll himself back over, because he is an awesome white water kayaker.

Club Habitat

We stayed at this place after doing the wet exits. During the day, we did our kayaking in a river. I paired with ruhtrA, and we were once again at the back.

That night, while preparing to have dinner, me and ruhtrA discovered to our dismay, that we had both left our cutlery at Taupo! As I write this, we still have not got it back, but apparently our Dean has it, so we can get it on Monday.

OPC

The next two nights were spent at a place called OPC, standing for Outdoor Pursuits Center. This was a cool place, and we got our physics teacher Mr Buckley to play poker with us. We used lollies as money, and teh_pwnerer came out on top, I had a medium amount, and ruhtrA went bankrupt so we donated to him, but by the end he still had not much lollies.

The first day of activities at OPC were gorging and high ropes. Gorging was the best activity of the whole camp. We walked upstream and downstream of a very cold river in a gorge, climbing on rocks and even swimming in deep places.

High ropes was also fun. I conquered my fears of height and even did something called the Big Swing. This is where you climb up a rock wall 15m high, get attached to a massive swing, and jump off a platform and free-fall for 2 seconds before swinging up for ages!

On the second day at OPC we did a 4 hour tramp. Us 4 stayed back with ruhtrA who was slow, and generally we did not like the tramp, but were relieved to get back.

The ride home

The bus we went home in had a TV at the front, so we sat at the front of the bus. We watched 'The Spy Who Loved Me', which is a James Bond film, and (unfortunately) Bridget Jones's diary.

@ruhtrA: LOL, my brain was like half dead when I wrote this. The day after we got back… XD. I couldn't focus on anything, that's why there's so many spelling mistakes.

Edit: Fixed spelling. There were a LOT more, like at least 10 others :P.
