This is an archive, stream of consciousness style, devblog of my adventures trying to code up a game for the first time.
Here is what I did for the next few days:It took me an entire weekend to implement shaders, a requirement for the blurring/greyscale effects. The moment I was able to play multiple levels with multiple layers, while adjusting the color of the tiles, was exhilarating. Up until that point I was unsure if I would ever be able to create a playable product. At this point the major features I have left to implement are the overlay (for menus and story), interactions with objects (stones/keys/doors/ice), the special effects (blurring/fade in/fade out), and sound. I also have to finish mapping out the levels, as well as go back and upgrade the placeholder graphics. I still haven't decided if I'm going to try and find someone to create some music for me, or if I'm going to try and do that on my own. It's fun learning all these things, but I don't know what quality of music I can turn out–based on my artwork so far, I have my doubts.
