Yes. It's the moment you and I have been waiting for.

Congratulations to all of the submitters, particularly those who managed to use the submission template. To those who didn't, your inability to fathom the simplest instructions fascinates me.

The games can be downloaded below. If you are a veteran member of 64digits (joined before September 2011) or a successful competitor, you have the opportunity to nominate the prize winners, which is detailed further down.

NOMINATIONS:

If you are an experienced member of 64digits (joined 64digits before the competition) or one of the competitors you can nominate the prize winners.

Send a private message to me entitled "Scary Four Vote" with a list of your four most favourite games, number 1 being your most favourite and number 4 being your 4th favourite , like this:

1. Game1

2. Game2

3. Game3

4. Game4

Send Message

Note you do not have to vote for the scariest, or the best looking, or the best anything. It's entirely up to you how you judge what your "favourites" are.

Once these nominations are collected, there will be a second round of voting for the 4 top entries.

PRIZES:

OK, for those expecting to win $1000 - which toads are you licking? I'm not trying to sell you anything. I gain nothing if you take part (in fact, keep reading, I lose a buck). I won't own anything you make, it's yours. HUNDREDS of people take part in the most famous game comp, Ludum Dare - they don't offer anything at all except the fun of taking part. If you want prizes, give as you wish to receive. If you're in it for the money, you don't deserve anything anyway.

TRICK-OR-TREAT (EVERYONE)

Trick-or-treating is a tradition which promotes greediness, hostility and obese children.

To protest and as a companion to the prizes above, for every successful entrant* I will donate $0.50 $1.00 to UNICEF (up to an undisclosed maximum).

Less candy for those little shits knocking on the door and more food and medicine for the dying.

Now you have no excuse - do it for the children, you cold, heartless bastard.

DO YOU LUDUM-DARE** COMPETE?

*A 'successful entrant' is defined as an entrant who submits a legitimate game within the time limit, gets at least one vote in the preliminary judging and is someone who I determine has actually bothered to make a decent game.

I'm ashamed to say, but I still haven't finished any of these games yet.

I played all the games that worked on my computer and voted.

Also, if anyone wants to read my reviews, I posted it on my website:

Saw your little review of my game. The player's hitbox is only 4x4, just so you know. Not the whole sprite.

Overall it is a bit of bullet hell
Just a bit, huh?

I think one of the biggest flaws with this competition right now is the lack of understanding between the games. Maybe everyone should've written detailed instructions on how to play the genre as a whole, instead of just assuming people know how it works.

@Purainite: Yeah i know, but I found it awkward personally. Still thought it was fun to play.

@Kilin: Yes, definitely. A few of the games i tried a bunch of different things, EXCEPT for the one that worked lol.

My gameplay doesn't need work, your playing of a game needs improvement.

Ok so if you plan on voting you have the until after this weekend.

Please do vote. I think you can appreciate the amount of effort the participants have put into these games, and seeing as you're part of their game making community the least you can do is actually play them and share your opinion so we can have a fair contest.

And participants! You should definitely vote. You're being a little unfair to the ones who did vote. Even the ones who just voted for each other >_>

(as if they actually thought I didn't expect them to do that)

How much longer now? Is the blog title still accurate?

I really liked Zac's slenderman game, The Operator. That game was seriously the creepiest I've ever played. Eerier and more chilling than even Amnesia.

When I saw that the boy in the kitchen suddenly had a slenderman behing him with a hand on his shoulder? My heart stopped. Really nice work on the atmosphere, but the resolution and quality of the game sprites was detrimental to that atmosphere a bit.

Also, I never managed to find the red house shown on the tape?

JID 13 years, 1 month ago

Yeah, Zac's game scared the living horse shit out of me.
