After the many different events from this past week, I have been thinking a good deal about the site, and I figured while I sit here in the morning before school, I'd post this blog.
Issue #1. Lack of trustable modsWe've already seen it with geargod, and occasionally, our current mods, but we know already that this site is still growing, and at a faster pace than ever before. Considering that we have multiple users, perhaps at least 200 a day logging in, and a few blogging, others posting games, that we should have more mods than what we have now keeping an eye on the site and who's doing what wrong. The current mods are doing an amazing job, no doubt, with their current numbers, but they do need more. I've also noticed the trend that the newer users appear to be becoming mods, and not us senior members that have seen enough people screwing with the site to understand how they move and what keeps them moving.Issue #2. Well, security in general. That about sums Issue 2 up, we need better security. We already know that the current mods are hard at work with this, so this only needed to be stated, and not elaborated on, since we've already seen the vast amount of people jacking with the site themselves, like the 'phantom mod', that little link that can force login to the site, which no longer exists by the way, so yeah.Issue #3. the current staffYeah, I'm talking about you guys now. I have noticed that the majority of the mods here are experienced with HTML coding and other sorts of coding in general, and leads me to the idea that the current staff is based off of those that are skilled in coding, and not so much keeping a eye on the site. Of course, I don't know the mods personally, and some of the mods may not have coding experience at all, but the current most prevalent mods are all skilled in coding, and… not so much playing the good cop.My conclusion - We need more members that have stayed loyal with the site as mods here, because most of the mods that we have gotten so far probably rarely ever come here anymore, as well as that the other mods we've gotten were recruited out of the fear that they could destroy the site, so they recruited them to keep them from doing that -cough-GEAR'GOD'-cough-. And, believe it or not, some of the mods may be BETTER if they have no clue about hacking and such, because they can't fuck up the site as badly as some people could. But, this is just the thoughts I've retained in my head let out, I may have forgotten some things, and I could've rambled about alot of this, but you have to keep in mind that for our site, we have mods, yes. But I don't think we have enough.Of course, that's just my thoughts. Talk about it, I want to hear some feedback.~[VH]~
Yeah, I think you're right, we need more community orientated mods.
The big question though, is 'who', who is willing, and able.Of course, then you have the old saying, 'He who wishes for power ifs often the least suited for it'.It's good to see that I'm not the only one with these thoughts in mind. Yes, summing it all up, we just need more community orientated mods to hold the site down in general.
I am trust able, and know nothing about hacking. But truthfully most people cant handle the pressure of being a mod or has the time to be on the site 24/7 to make sure everything is going fine. And I am one of those people who would never have enough time to do all of the modly duties.
I know its not an exact fit, but I'm taking this down per news post rules.
