[V] And the world stood still.

… Because nobody could appreciate someone's thoughts on how to fix a place that's destroying itself. I will be quoting Plethicide's suggestions, and CONSTRUCTIVELY criticising them, and putting a better solution in place.

Quote:

stage 1

-make more admins - obel, eagly and marbs <leave my blog alone, obel >_>, it's vaguely serious

More admins doesn't make the place better.

but it removes holes which means that you can't edit my blog.

-make more mods

More mods doesn't make the place better.

First, adding more admins doesn't sound like the best idea. Now, REPLACING some that aren't doing their damn job correctly with people that gladly would, THAT would work.

And the small argument above is a perfect, almost FLAWLESS example of what we'd be replacing with smarter people, that know not to dick around. I don't recall seeing anything in the rules that mods can edit peoples blogs without a reason. That would be basically abuse of power, and proving that your position isn't something you deserve.

Quote:

stage 2

-implement good grammar/punctuation rule

Ironic actually…

-remove short blog on the front page rule (it was there to start with because of the blog making badge)

So you can read lots of shitty one-line blogs?

it'll fucking increase the number of blogs created. And in case you hadn't noticed, you don't HAVE to read every single blog on the front page.

Good grammar rule? That's being a tyrant for someone's own typo or mistake. And the short blog rule is fine where it is, but it could help to be reduced SLIGHTLY.

And yet another immature edit was placed by whatever admin or mod was wandering around that blog. Once again, you're abusing your power. Make a bloody comment, rather than taking it into the blog itself. And the number of blogs created as of right now is just fine, at the rate they're made.

Quote:

stage 3

-advertise on the gmc

No

-advertise on snowmoons

No

-advertise everywhere

No

yes, yes, yes; this community is dying you egotistical maniac.

Even more immaturity. It's like the majority of the admins online now are simply ridiculous. Acting like 5 year olds bickering over a stuffed bear. As for advertisement, just stuff a banner or something in your signature each time you post. It's not that hard.

Quote:

stage 4

-recruit people who can work on v3

-work on v3

It's been established about a year ago that V3's only but a myth. Quit poking it with a stick and leave it.

Quote:

stage 5

-expand from gamemaker to other programming languages

Viruses/defeating the point of a GM oriented community.

so this site is GM orientated for life? Besides, you SLIGHTLY forgot the queue.

It's kind of already like that, honestly. It's just based primarily in blogs. And, this IS a GM oriented community, so that kind of isn't a option.

Quote:

stage 7

-profit! (also canadonian doesn't shut 64d down)

Why would he want to pay for a site that he doesn't care about/sucks?

reminds me of current extremists. If you don't want to be here, you don't HAVE to be here.

some truly AWESOME hacker/mod/whatever (in ITALICS) decided to annotate my blog. I believe they have truly deserved a round of applause for deconstructing what I think would help! Give them a round of applause!

small afterthought: This (the editing 'attack') is a reason to implement at least SOME change.

Memes in a serious blog is not a good idea. Try not to do those. And Canadonian is kind enough to pay for the site still, because he understands there's still a community. However, since a vast majority of people don't seem to understand his kindness, he may just shut it down to give you all an idea of what it's like.

Also, admin's, you gave yourselves a very good reason to lose your position. Why?

Quote:

You just hinted to everyone that you could care less of your responsibilities that you once sought. I certainly do believe at this point, a change in power is required, if that's the attitude of the people controlling most of the site.

And to add onto that wound, you were childish enough to add criticism, that is in no way constructive or helpful, to someone's blog. Any idea how STUPID that is?

And to finish, I believe plethicide's somewhat cryptic request for some change is needed. Most importantly, a change in power. Viva la revolution? Perhaps. But do I have the right idea? That is up for you guys to decide.

I have to agree, we could use some replacements. We used to have changes in staff a lot, and 64d was doing great. Now its gotten stagnant, and most the people in charge don't do enough to keep their position.

Not to mention that considering some of the staff seems to now be having trouble on seeing what's good and what's bad, and most especially, when not to abuse their powers.

I completely agree on replacing mods. And as a BTW, that was Obelisk. He keeps editing everyone's blogs.

V 15 years, 11 months ago

@hel

QFT? Quit fucking talking? o_O

@Retro

I kind of figured as much, seeing as he was the only mod on when that blog was getting messed up. There's still other's that go about doing that, however.

I actually like the way 64Digits is right now, it resembles now the old closed community it was during v1, although some more activity wouldn't be bad.

Also, I totally dislike mods, or anybody, editing someone's blog, avatar or whatever. It's immature.

Mu6502 15 years, 11 months ago

How about a new logo & look 64digits?

SteveKB 15 years, 11 months ago

qft means quoted for truth.

V 15 years, 11 months ago

@Josea

Yeah, it's like old times. Only difference is there's different users here than in the past (Obviusly), and the mods are just a bit more power hungry than usual. That and the amount of activity we have here dive bombed, so that certainly wouldn't be bad.

@Mu

That's V3 at its heart. Except V3 covers the large mass of flaws strewn about the place.

@Meow

Danke for translation.
