Trench Warfare

Studying WWI in Social Studies gave me an idea for a new game; Trench Warfare.

I'm aiming for a simple yet strategic style of gameplay, more arcadey than anything else. Basically the screen consists of no-man's land, bordered on both sides by, what else, trenches. You'll fight as either the Central Powers or the Allies, and give your troops orders. Some things I have in the planning:

- Fighting Intensity. Basically a meter you can change, which tells your troops how hard to fight (pretty much how often to shoot). The higher it is, the more ammunition your troops use up.

- Support. Every set period of time (will be adjustable), you'll be able to call for one type of support: Ammunition or Reinforcements. Ammunition will give more.. ammunition (once it's used up, you're a sitting duck), and reinforcements give you five or so more troops.

- Artillery Strikes. You'll start with a set amount of these (adjustable aswell), that you can use over the course of the battle. They can only be launched in no-man's land.

- Charging. The only way to win a battle. Press this and all you troops, save for 3, will run out toward the enemy's trench. While running, accuracy is lowered. Soldiers are also vulnerable to artillery strikes, barbed wire, and enemy fire.

Famous Battles. I'm still not sure about this one, but you may fight in famous WWI battles.

That's all I have for now. Does anyone else have any more ideas?

How about a side mission or two were you fly a biplane, to direct the artillery fire, or that's how you call in artillery. That's the main purpose of planes in the first half of WWI, they were primarily fighters later.
