Anyone remember my competition game, Shattered World? I've recently made a spin-off game titled Shattered Whirr for the 9th GMC Jam, and unlike previous jams, I've actually spent some time refining it. It's not DONE yet, but I'm working on it. The current demo has 4 of 5 stages complete. If you haven't played Shattered World, don't worry: there will be no spoilers whatsoever.
Basically, it's a Gradius-style shooter game where you go to the right automatically, avoiding the terrain. You can either spam enemies with incredibly weak shots or take the time to charge up powerful special attacks. Like this one.And it has co-op mode as well! (Gamepad required). Basically, you use one button to shoot to the left and another to shoot to the right (right now it's Z and X for keyboard and button 1 and 2 for a gamepad, customized controls coming soon), and hold down either to charge up power. I've just submitted it to the 64D database, but if you don't want to wait, here's a download link:https://www.box.com/s/3p3nkoyx7yytentp0xr4
Pixel work is quite pretty :D
I really like the look of the "ship" in the first screen. I'd almost like to see a whole game designed in that style. Thanks! ^__^
All of the bosses (except the first) are designed in that style, and also large bits of Stage 4, 5 and 6. So you should seriously give the game a go.(There's a link in the bottom of the blog post.)Nice, I liked the boss battles. That last one was devious.
I think the snow level had a couple of moments that felt unfair, those regenerating snow snakes for example. Another complaint is that in later levels, there are so many enemies that it seems too easy to get high combos and thus extra lives. I should mention though that I played trough the game as Sarhya, who seems very good at taking on large groups of enemies.Wow this looks awesome. I'll edit this comment later with my input on the game.
Just wanted to say that this looks fun.Oh, funny that your name on 64d is Yaru, when your gmc one is Yal :)
A shmup, you say? Finally you're speaking my language.
How else would you expect co-op to work? Most keyboards would be unable to handle two players simultaneously with a game like this. Also, you would be surprised at how many people own USB gamepads these days.
Aww, the players can take more than one shot. :(
For some reason the women on the bottom screenshot looked like she was floating on a Tire to me. Goddamn brain.
