It is quite hard to properly define dissonance. If you want to add tension to your music, you can use dissonance by using sus4 chords of extended chords such as 7 or 9 for example. What sounds best in my opinion is keeping the tension for a while before getting rid of it (going from a sus4 to the major chord for example). It appears you try to base yourself off Final Fantasy quite a bit, and they often use sus4 chords for tensions. For example, listen to the strings here. It's not the best example but you get a feeling of "relief" because the sus4 chord became a major one. On a side note, you can also use soundfonts to get rid of the awful midi sound while keeping the feeling the same, such as an SNES soundfont.

So basically, as long as I don't try to play more than one note at a time with the same instrument, there will be no dissonance?
…No. In order to avoid such a thing you'd have to avoid chords altogether by also not using harmony, which I highly advise against. Just listen to music and train your ear to listen for chords that work, rather than running away from them because you don't know if you can do them right.

I consider myself one of the few very active game designers left on this site.
Why do you guys always come back to a blog a week later and go off-topic on one little comment I made while half asleep? I only said this because so many people at this site are going off and doing other things rather than focusing on making games, while I've stayed behind because that's what I enjoy most. Few doesn't mean only–I used it as a comparison to the massive amount of game developers we had in our prime years. Don't take it for more than it is.

Do you differentiate making games and being a game designer ?
Technically, designers are the people who come up with ideas and mechanics, and make sure all of these things will work as intended. However, I still call people around here who make games game designers, and refer to myself as such though I do both. But hey, let's not argue semantics.
