Hey guyses,
I wanted to ask:what's more important to you - graphics or gameplay? Would you sacrifice 3D graphics for a pixellated 2D game which has great gameplay, such as Sid Meier's Colonization?I guess many gaming industries today concentrate on making great graphics, but not on actual gameplay, so almost ALL games suck these days… I remember the good 'ol days, when there was nothing more but a MS-DOS screen displaying such classics as UFO and Warlords I… Nostalgic :]Then there are roguelikes. You either hate them or love them. I'm on the latter side. Nothing beats the feeling of little "@"s beating the crap out of little "W"s. The fun thing is, the more 'sucky' the graphics, the more your imagination takes place and creates your own image of the thing. What is your opinion?Cheers,aEon
Uh-huh. I even played Oblivion with INI tweaks. It looked like absolute rubbish, but I still got 200 hours out of it. Graphics just aren't of any concern to me.
You just can't get any atmosphere out of stick figures with poorly-drawn machine guns.
I really like 16-Bit graphics and think those games are a lot more fun than a lot of the more recent games, but I think the Wii is pretty cool. Wait- I guess most people think those graphics suckk too.
So, yeah I guess I would say gameplay.Obelisk, I guess you didn't understand me. I didn't say CRAPPY graphics, I said pixellated, but actually pretty correct graphics.
By the way, it's good to hear that most people agree with me :]It depends entirely on the game. Some games would only work in 3D, others would only work in pixel.
Of course! This means I'm very happy that they are starting to hit the graphics plateau (the point in which increasing the level of detail by any noticable amount takes an irrationally larger increase in CPU requirements) - this means that people are focusing more on developing stuff like physics engines more, and trying out new styles.
Very sorry, I misunderstood you. Sometimes I prefer 2D sprites as long as they're "correct."
I think gameplay trumps definatly but graphics give it more feeling.
Of course I'd sacrifice graphics. I love roguelikes, even though I prefer graphic ones (because, if there is a possibility, I can't see why bother playing in a sado-masochistic manner).
