Well well, it's been a good while since I posted an update. I've been searching for stuff to do since my last game project went underwater (the artist on our project jumped ship and everyone else shortly followed). That leaves me sort of in limbo, but it's probably for the best since I need to start seriously looking for employment again, and now I have no excuses :P
But anyway, in the time being I've been dipping my hands in territories both familiar and unfamiliar in the name of practice. My current coding project is a multiplayer 3d-engine that I hope to use for a simple but working game. The idea is that I can re-use the framework in the future for more complex stuff, that is assuming it doesn't become too overbearing to work with.In line with this project I have also been practicing modeling, though I still have a lot to learn (like regularly using references! Thanks Cyrus :P). Here's a model I hope to use as a starting point for player characters:So yeah, I'll have to hit the drawing board before turning this into more of a playable-looking character.Aside from the 3d/coding stuff, I've continued to work on music. I don't quite have anything ready to show off, aside from the short pieces I did for Cesque's completition game (go play it!). Other than that, I just have a handful of WIPs that I wrote on guitar/bass, many just experiments with alternate tunings and/or unfamiliar (to me) scales. Maybe I'll post a bunch when I feel like digging them out and rendering them.Oh, but I do have one final musical/visual treat. This took several hours of rendering but in the end I think it was worth it: Welp, that's about all I have to update you guys on. Stay cool, my cats!

The song had a nice vibe to it. I wish it was longer! We have a lot of budding modelers. I think us Unity developers will be pretty well off.
I am not so much budding, as seed-ing?
as in, I am a seed, I am not planting things@ Mush here, have a towelFor all of the seedling and Budding modelers I recommend Modo whenever you can get around to acquiring a copy, because I use it and it's brilliant and I love it.
It's not better than any other software, nor is it any worse, but the interface is brilliant and fully customizable. People also boast that Modo's Modeling tools are the best, I can't really say for sure- but it is the easiest modeling I have ever done than in any other program.I also suggest taking the time to learn 3Ds Max or Maya as they're both really easy to work with once you learn the basics and the interface.
Never used Modo.I am using 3DSMax
It is mostly for college. here are a few screenshots from 2 of my more recent projectsI remember using Gmax a long long time ago (in a galaxy far away?), though I never got attached to it. I may have tried to use 3DS at some point but didn't stick with it either. Granted, this was when I was a wee lad and preferred using anim8or because it was the only program I could rig worth a frill in.
These days I still rock the free 3d toolchains. Wings3d is my go-to modeler and texturing suite, and I'm learning (or should I say constantly relearning) how to rig with Blender. I may check out some of these other options now that I'm more familiar with 3d tools in general… though I'm content with Wings as my modeler (at least for my low-poly work) I sometimes get fed up with Blender, but I think it's mostly because I don't use it often enough so every time I try and pick it back up I have to remember how to make it not step on my toes. And woah, those are some nice models Moikle! The house is pretty awesome, I especially love the "notinfected" graffiti :Pthanks, now everyone else post stuff :D
although they did take me about 70 times longer than they should have
