I'm out.

Posted by death on July 26, 2012, 5:08 p.m.

I can't do it… i can't finish my project in time so i'm out of the competition. I'm pretty close to finishing it but i know with work i can't complete it with the short amount of days left. I'll still continue to work on it though, probably a little longer than I originally planned. I'm going to add more features to the engine now that i'm giving myself the time.

Also i'll still play all the games entered in the competition, i'm still really looking forward to that so don't disappoint me 64D!

Yeah. That's what most people are doing. You have a week to do it and having spent this much time on a project to not end up releasing it would be such a waste.

I may not have commented on it much, but I've been watching your game with a growing interest. It's got a nice style to it that I think would be fun to play.

Demo.

You could still enter half or 1/4 or a game, eh?

That's why I cut out a lot of things I planned for my RPG, so I can get it finished on time.

Then after the competition is over, I can get to putting things back in, if I can.

And yeah, if you can't finish it, go with a demo.

Heh even originally it was already planned to be some sort of demo, but i don't even have enough material for that. i'll see if i can get to that point before the deadline but i don't expect i will.

Didn't the compo have some sort of arcane "Two hour play time" requirement?

Is that the problem?

i wasn't aware of that, but my game definitely* isn't 2 hours long lol. not even 30 mins, thus it's too short even for a demo. since it's randomly generated, the gameplay is only as long as the player is willing to stay with it. right now there is no story or ending. it's just plop and play. i have an main quest planned but i don't think i'll have enough time to make it happen. so it would be less than a demo, maybe just a prototype really. (especially since i want to add more features)

You shouldn't just delete other peoples comments like that just because you don't like them. I wasn't pointing it out because you can't spell (which I've known for a long time based on reading your blogs), but because I found it amusing that it still worked how it was, even if it was probably not how you meant it to be.

While I'm willing to bet that you just don't know the difference between "defiantly" and "definitely" (most people seem to not know), I found this funny because it's still suitable since your game is in defiance of the 2 hour gameplay requirement.

What the fuck? We can delete other peoples' comments on our blogs now? This better be some kind of mistake.

death 12 years, 4 months ago

you know i could just delete it again. the only reason i did is because i find it rude. just coming in here to comment on a misspelled word is annoying. it's trolling is what it is. i can't stand grammar-nazi's. if it's not on the subject than i don't want to see it. Also somebody (probably you) did this before if i half-remember. I let it go the first time but it's more annoying the 2nd time.

btw i can spell. i simply have a bad habit of misspelling a few words, it's a habit i have while typing. it's not that easy to break when idgaf. it's a blog.

lol it's always been like that. you mean you don't see the "delete" right next to the "report" on each person's post? (if it's your blog)

You're missing the goddamned point. If you had merely spelled something wrong or had horrible punctuation or something, I wouldn't have pointed it out, and not only just because I'd have to point out half the posts you make…

The point was that even though you likely made a mistake, it took on a whole new meaning, which still applied to the game and its relation to the 2 hour gameplay requirement, albeit in a different way.

Heh. He can't even pull the "It's shorter/It's easier" thing when it comes to breaking most punctuation rules, since his incorrect version is even longer than the correct one.

So how are you in college/university if you don't know the difference between plural and possession?
