The Steam Holiday sale devastated my wallet…
I believe I made a total of 12 purchases this time, totaling some where around 50 dollars. I'll try to put this into a list but the sale was so long that I may miss one or two here:- Ys: The Oath in Felghana- Doom 3 Pack (Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil)- Doom Classic Pack (Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Final Doom, Master Levels of Doom)- Crysis- Heretic + Hexen Pack (Heretic, Hexen, Hexen II, Deathkings, Serpent Riders)- Painkiller: Black Edition- Painkiller: Overdose- Painkiller: Hell and Damnation- Painkiller: Resurrection - Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft- Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation- AnnaYeah, I have way more FPS games than I need. Not sure why I keep buying them. Crysis wasn't what I was expecting either, seems more like a stealth game than an action game. Doom 3 was a bit disappointing as well. I bought Doom+Heretic packs just to own a legit copy.Painkiller was a pleasant surprise though. Old school action FPS that plays really well with giant well designed levels. It's a little on the easy side but still entertaining. However the remake "Hell and Damnation" totally blows. They destroyed it, it crashes nonstop, the controller support is broken and the sound is choppy and will stop randomly while playing. Also terrible co-op mode. (the only reason i wanted it)Haven't even played Anna yet but I'll get to it.Other News:Started the spring semester this week. My classes seem pretty easy. I'm taking a C programming course online. Haven't even started looking at the material yet heh but there are only 11 assignments for the whole course and 2 tests. Sounds pretty straight forward.Also messed around with the CSS a little, nothing pretty but just personalized it a bit. I may edit it again later, when I'm not being lazy.I have not worked on any game-related projects in a while, aside from an RPG a few weeks ago. Wanna a pic? Chiken had to reprogram the whole thing because the dude who originally built it made some severe cock-ups in the backend. Game acceptance was also fusked and that got fixed too.I still find myself returning to Doom, Hexen and Quake. Especially when my friends and I want a quick "Frag the Snot Out Of Each Other" evening.
Dunno if you'd like Borderlands, but it's co-op mode is pretty nice. Also scales the difficulty based on the number of players present.Yup, after getting frustrated/bored with some modern day shooter i end up playing Doom or Heretic again. I guess it's like washing down a bad taste with something good.
Still playing Doom 3, just entered the Caverns. this game is a lot longer than i expected…
