GM Final Fantasy

So, I was bored last night and I started work on a Final Fantasy based game. Basically it takes elements of many titles in the series and mixes them with others. To further drive this point it will feature a recrutable Sephiroth (FF7)character and a Squall (FF8) character. The sprites are all ripped or based on sprites from the 'Dawn of Souls' title for GBA. I should be able to upload a short demo in a few weeks if I decide that this is a workable project. The main problem I see is making enough story and whatnot to make the game feel like a RPG and not force the player to spend time leveling up to clear an area, 'they should be at a desent level when they get there,' at least thats my thoughts. Also the abundance of variables may make the game difficult to program.

So, has anyone tried makeing an RPG of length and story before? How did it work out? And what do you think of the basic idea?

I'll post something of a follow up in a week or so.

Peace, Dr. Spazz

Those sprites, they should match considering I ripped them from FF Dawn of Souls for the GBA, well other than the fact that I redid the bottom two to look like Sephiroth and Squall. It might be that I need to strech the image, GBA backgrounds usually take up more room than the screen provides (256 or so on a 240 screen), so it might be slightly more high-res or something.

I want to make an rpg, but initializing the game is so much work, and the world design is anoying, and I can't write a story worth jack, and…Yeah. =P
